It's a staple around here

Pictured above are some lovely chocolate chip cookie bars. They have become a regular feature around our house. They are easy to make, the chiclets love them, and the ingredients are always on hand. I think we should get started on a batch.....
1 cup butter, softened (no margarine, it will give you gray hair)
3/4 cup sugar
3/4 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
2 large eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 1/4 cups self-rising flour
1 12-ounce package of chocolate chips
In a large bowl combine butter and both sugars. Beat until creamy. Beat in eggs and vanilla. Gradually add flour to this mixture. Stir in chocolate chips. Spread in your favorite, old 9x13 Pyrex baking dish, that has been sprayed with non-stick cooking spray. Bake for 30-35 minutes at 375 degrees. Cool completely and cut into bars.
All varieties of chips work well in this recipe as well as nuts. Dunking the cookie bar into a glass of milk is recommended.
