How cold is it?

It is cold here in Kentucky. I realize that is not going to garner much sympathy, as it is incredibly cold in many other parts of the U.S. right now. However, in our neck of the woods we have some interesting ways to describe how cold it REALLY is.

Maybe it is as cold as a frosted frog.

Cold as a banker's heart or as cold as a well digger's tail.

Cold as a cast iron commode....now that IS cold.

Cold as an ex-wife's heart.

We are expecting cold temperatures here all week. The temps are dipping into the teens during the night and we are expecting single digit temps later in the week.....along with some snow.
Personally, I would prefer it to be hotter than Satan's house cat right about now.

  1. How about "hotter than a billygoat's butt in a pepper patch"? (Stan's favorite)

I'm with you either way. I like it hot.

  3. It is sooo cold that my pipes have froze upstairs. That in itself means it's colder than a witches tit.

  6. It's bad enough to be that cold up here in the Upper Peninsula (where we expect it). Must be dreadful down there. Hope you thaw out soon. We have temps down to 0 at night right now and are measuring the snow in feet but then everyone has a plow on their pickup, too.

  9. Everyone - I tried to refrain from using the words, "witches t*t", on this blog....afraid it would give my Dad a coronary.

  10. Oh, those are funny. I'll have to ask my aunt and cousin who live in Kentucky what their favorite cold saying is. I may be going back in Feb., so better bring my "cold" clothes.

  11. Beautiful pictures. As far as I'm concerned, that's the only thing snow is good for. Pretty to look at, but soooo messy.
It's cold down here in SC, too. In the teens at night. But no snow. My son will be heading to KY on Sunday for final traiing. He's in WV now, so it won't be much of a difference in weather for him.
I didn't know well digger's had tails!? tee hee

  12. Well, the phrase you don't want to say is what I've always heard too. And, I sure wouldn't want to sit on a cast iron commode in this weather. It's cold next door in WV, too, and gonna get colder. Love your pics!
