This and That

Today marked the first day of a shortened work week. However, it felt like five Mondays all rolled up into one. I have sold my camera and have just now organized it for the new owner. *sniff*sniff* I am putting the money towards a more advanced model in hopes of improving my photography skills. Mr. UPS is supposed to be delivering it on Thursday. I am already feeling impatient. This photo has nothing at all to do with that subject, just enjoy it anyway.

My husband and son have been working on their food plots in preparation for deer season. This photo is just a peek into their, "work area". Beautiful, no?!

The hot summer dried up leaves and some crazy winds last month have already made some of our trees look barren.

My son, The Deerslayer, has started snake wrangling. I am hoping this is just a passing fancy. Maybe too much Bear Grylls on the telly.

And, on one last final note. If you are driving on a country road and come across a road sign that says, "Egypt", then you really might be out in the middle of nowheresville.

Have a great week everybody!

  1. Nice food plot. And YES it is beautiful:).

  2. I love the header of your blog. You have some very beautiful pictures.

I found your blog on Follow me Back Tuesday! Have a great night.

  3. IMPROVE your skills??! I wish I could be HALF as good a photographer as you are - seriously.

  4. Love your new banner photo. And of all the others the flowers on the ironing board is my fave! I do have to agree with you on the snake thing too. Oh another thing how can you improve with new equipment I love your photos the way they are.

  5. I like the first picture!
and the last is original ! =)
    Bye ...

  6. Hmmm - West Egypt - I thought Egypt was in the Middle East! LOL - honestly back when I worked for the Forest Service in eastern KY there was a sign for a place called Hell for Certain. I, like you, took a photo of the sign, and have it on a zip drive, I'll have to put it on my blog sometime. Great song by Willie Nelson BTW - he's one of my favorites. Take care, from Fayette Co.

  7. A lot of things for a post without your cmera. A new camer is always a challenge, I hope you'll enjoy the new model.
The plot is really beautiful and The Deerslayer is quite brave!

  8. Bear Grylls-- Namesd 2 of his kids Marmaduke and Huckleberry???? Come on! What your new camera?

  9. I, too, would like a better camera, but I catch heck over snapping too much now.It is still on my "to do" list though.I want a new banner page, also, but I want to make a Fall collage, similar to my present banner, and that takes time. A little more than I can spare at the moment, but I will get to that soon.Have a nice day!

  10. Let's see, new camera, deer plot, snake wrangling, I thought life in the country was supposed to be calm and peaceful?

  11. Fantastic pictures....with the exception of the snake:)

  12. Gorgeous area!
I hope your son gives up the snake wrangling. **eeww!**
    Congrats on your new camera!

  13. Hey there! Great photos with no camera! I'd love to have a new one myself - I'll be anxious to see what you got!

Yes, it's time to gear up for hunting season around here, too. My middle son had snakes, iguanas, scorpions, and horned african frogs. Been there, done that. It'll pass. It's a phase. But one thing you can bet $$ on. Your son and your son's friends will ALWAYS think that you're the coolest mom EVER for letting him have that stuff. Now if you can hold and pick up and feed the snakes, they'll think you walk on water! Promise!!!

I love your new banner photo!

  14. Vickie - I won't be holding the snakes and I made my son let that one loose in the pasture!

Birdman - I am getting a Canon 50D. I am patiently waiting for it to arrive.

B Squared - It is never dull around here.

Everyone - Thanks for the compliments! I do appreciate it.

  15. i've been away and am just getting caught up....but i would never miss your back posts! you are a truly talented photog my dear and i cannot wait to see what you do next! xoxo

  16. Heeehehehe!!! The sign cracked me up. We have one 'round these parts that says Damascus and every time I pass it I crack up! It doesn't take much...Really.

The snake thing. I fear I would have to put son up for adoption. I'm one chick who believes all snakes are evil and the only good snake is a dead snake. Sorry, I've heard the good snake speech before. They give me the heeby-jeebies!!!

God bless ya'll and have a spectacular day!!!

  17. I am a new follower from the blog hop
    Living Out Loud

  18. And enjoy it...I did! Very pretty.
The work area looks like a great place for a stroll.
Snakes around the neck???? Not around here!! I don't do snakes.
Have fun with that new camera!

  19. Did your new camera arrive? Yes, practicing those photography skills may come in handy in a couple of years or three... ;)

Last week I came across a little snake in our dining room. Pushed him out the patio door with a magazine....we definitely need to get that threshold raised a bit.

  20. What kind of camera are you waiting on? I am seriously thinking about a Nikon 5000, but I know my farmer husband would totally freak. It's my own money, but I still know he will freak. Sigh......Men! Oye! ;-)

  21. sound like my wife!! LOL. She found a small milksnake in our kitchen earlier this summer. The first thing she told me was that I needed to work on the door threshold.
