First: Put on a climbing harness and make sure it is secure. At this point attach rope to harness. Have son double check that the rope is anchored to the farm truck.
Second: Climb ladder to lofty heights of ancient farmhouse that the wife dearly loves. Walk across the roof until at the prime chimney spot. *Note the antennae ladder - far too unstable for a buff man to use.*
My toes went all icy just looking at the angle of that roof! Secret agent man deserves being spoiled for a week after that!

you are a very good instructor :-)
ReplyDeletehave a good week
my children have a school break too, but two weeks they are very happy with this break. and the weather is fine
WOW!! My chimney is a piece of cake to clean compared to yours. I have a two story house to but the roof pitch isn't nearly as steep. Your hubbie definitely deserves some brownie points.
ReplyDeleteGreat photos of secret agent man's overt action! We have a steep roof on our old house as well, but there's no secret agent man in the house so guess we'll have to hire 007.
ReplyDeleteOur chimney is due for it's bi-yearly cleaning soon. My husband is used to heights, so he is not bothered so much by the task -- but I can't relax until he's done and has his feet back on the ground.
ReplyDeleteKudos to your husband for doing this himself. Major brownie points all around!

ReplyDeleteGreat photos!
So glad Agent Man is also a wise man taking lots of precautions to do the job.
ReplyDeleteYikes! Scary job! I'm impressed.
ReplyDeleteYikes! Glad he's safe and sound and hopefully your chimney's clean of any creosote deposits! :)
ReplyDeletewow! this looks like a very delicate operation. i'm glad everybody made it thru safe and sound!
ReplyDeleteAt least Dr. AiredaleParent never decided to clean the chimney- we hired someone for that- but this reminds me of his semi-annual trip to the roof for gutter cleaning. At least the Chez is not quite as tall as your house!
ReplyDeleteI will do most anything around a house but I won't, under any circumstances, do that.
ReplyDeleteOh MY--that is quite a chimney. Your Sweep must really love you. What a good hubby you have:)

Hubby got way up on our roof and got stuck once several years ago. I had to waddle my VERY pregnant self to the roof and help him. Plus, it became a windy day just as problems started. It was interesting!I think Murphy's Law always happens at times like that.
ReplyDeleteHave a great week!
From where I come from, touching those cleaning a chimney gives luck.
ReplyDeleteAll the very best for you all and a good Tuesday as well.
daily athens
I hope he earned at least a years worth of brownie points for that job!
ReplyDeleteOkay, now that's just funny!
ReplyDeleteLove this post.
Was 'wife' watching nervously? LOL! That's a nice chore to have done! We're washing windows presently. Can't believe how much better we can see out now! ha.
ReplyDeleteYikes! I feel jittery just looking at that steep roof.
ReplyDeleteow brave of him! And how very brave of you to let him;))
Yay for Clean Chimneys:)
(And brave people who will do it!)
If I were there I would have been so nervous the whole time he was on the roof! Glad he got the job done safely. Whew!
ReplyDeleteTerrific reportage... My compliments to Secret Agent Man! I won't probably be able to do that, but I'll give it a try gladly.
ReplyDeleteCongrats to Secret Agent Man...you can be warm and toasty and safe now!
ReplyDeleteBetsy - I was watching and photographing the event!
ReplyDeleteB Squared - My husband hates to pay for services that he can do himself, thus it is a lot of DIY around here.
