I have been out of the blogging loop for the past few days. The family and I loaded up and headed to my parent's house......otherwise known as The Bab's and Mr. B's hacienda. They are lucky enough to live on the coast where warm weather abounds and people are still wearing short sleeve shirts at this time of year.
Seeing as how we have had a abnormal amount of snow lately, we were excited. And, yes this picture was taken very close to their house. *sigh*
Because my parents have a Jack Russell of their own. A rather handsome chap who goes by the name of, Hamilton. He and my dad are the best of buddies. Let's just say that the two jacks had a couple of ummmm....., "sparring sessions". Things got a little crazy and my friend, Airedalelibrarian, suggested that I use an air horn to break up their spats.
Yes, that's right.....an air horn.....in the house. A house all ready chock full of many grandchildren, adults, and noise.
Air horns bring a whole new meaning to the word, "festive".
Would my heart survive multiple air horn blasts? still a bit of hohohohoh
ReplyDeleteStay snug while Ky experiences this snow storm. Hopefully you are back home and off the slippery roads -- barbara.
ReplyDeleteThe excitement in photo 2 is lost by the end of the post and it brings a new meaning to the phrase that we have here... " A dog is for life, not just for Christmas" or should I revise that with " A dog is for life, not Christmas".
ReplyDeleteI'll bet you were loved by everyone. Nothing like the sound of a good dog fight followed by an air horn blast. LOL!!
ReplyDeleteStill impressed by the peacefulness you are able to provide. Over here as well, temperature was above 65F during midday. Please have you all a good new week.

That is too funny! My daughter's Jack Russell and my sweet mutt go at it here, but I think I'll pass on the air horn! :)
ReplyDeleteOh My! An air-horn! I'm here to tell you that my mom would have thrown me (and my dog) out of the house at the first blast!
ReplyDeleteHope you had a great time and are enjoying your holidays.
Howdy
ReplyDeleteI am so happy to hear you had a wonderful Christmas that you will always remember :)
Every time I hear an Air Horn I will think of Christmas !
It is in those unique unexpected things that create the best memories for our families .
Blessings of love and warmth to you and yours.
Until next time
Happy Trails
OMG! I'm with Joe! I bet you were everyone's favorite visitor this Christmas! Too funny! (Now - not then, I'm sure!)
ReplyDeleteLove the photo of the Jack (Harrison?) playing with the stuffing and not the toy...
Oops. Hamilton, not Harrison...
ReplyDeleteThat happens to my brain when I exit the post page for a comment...
Glad you are back safe and sound in Kentucky - even if it is frigidly cold and snowy in your world!
Sounds like a nice getaway minus the blasts. I don't know if I could survive a JR. Nice photos.
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas and wishing you to have a lot of fun!
ReplyDeleteGood morning!...I have some problems...You do not have a translator in your blog ... Now?. I'd like to read what you write immediately .....;)))).....
ReplyDeleteHappy Holidays!!! and a New 2011!!!
Cheers, Cy
I have seen many things in my past Holidays but this is omethin new. The nearest thing was, long time ago, a near fight of my mother in law's cat with mine, but they ignored each other for the rest of the time...
ReplyDeleteAmazing but stranger things have worked I bet.
ReplyDeleteI can just imagine what it was like to add the air horn to the mix. I got a chuckle out of this one. We had 3 dogs and only 8 of the grandkids for Christmas Eve along with 9 adults...Hmm....You say it worked? :)))
ReplyDeleteJudy - It really did work. The dog fighting was getting a bit out of control and this saved the day. But, I am sure my parents are releaved it is all over with!
ReplyDeleteHmmm, I am inspired by this air horn method. One of my retrievers has started a very BAD behavior of scratching at our back door...I am thinking a few blasts of an air horn may recondition her!
ReplyDeleteOoooooooo! Thank you!
Hehe...good idea! Although...I think I would have felt like he looked as well, at the end of it all:)
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful place in which they live!
LOL! We kept our dogs home while our guests were here with their dogs too. There were some fights, because the visiting dog felt it was ok to sniff butts, but no one and I mean NO ONE could sniff hers...
ReplyDeleteThey finally all 4 of them settled down and were just fine the rest of the time.
I'll have to keep that blowhorn idea in mind tho!
Yikes! Bet every jumped when the airhorn went off!
ReplyDeleteUm, wow. Never thought of an air horn. I've used the pennies in a can trick. I guess you go big. I too am used to very loud holiday gatherings. My father in law can only handle us for a day or two before he gets twitchy and has to go home. I don't blame him. My kids make me twitchy too.
ReplyDeleteToo funny! Love jack russells. Always my favorite doggies. Glad you all survived.
ReplyDeleteI'd probably settle for 2 Jack Russells + an air horn over overflowing plumbing, which was what was going on at my mom's Christmas day. :)
ReplyDeletevery good text, I liked !
ReplyDeleteyour photos are beautiful too, the first and last are superb :))
Bye**
Such cuties they are. Looks like a perfect place to be with all the snow happening everywhere else. Safe travels on the way home :)
ReplyDeleteOh, that is SO funny! I wonder if it works on boys. haha
ReplyDeleteOh dear. Dog fights and air horns. Festive for sure! However, the warm weather, YES!
ReplyDeleteI really admire your bravery in putting two JRTs together. I have one that's 14 1/2. Nelson was described as 'docile' during the holidays. That's a first for him!
ReplyDeleteThat post gave me quite a chuckle. When you visit me, you can leave the horn behind, OK?
ReplyDeleteNow a air horn is something I would have never thought of. But I am sure it stopped them and everyone in their tracks!
