This afternoon we gathered at the home of my Mom-in-Law for a Christmas get together. Food was eaten and gifts were exchanged. We all did some catching up and enjoyed the afternoon. It was sweet and memorable....everything it should be.

But, before we could officially call it a day, my brother-in-law, Flyboy, broke out his traditional Christmas gift to the kids. See....he has no kids of his own, so he likes to torture those of us that do. Each year he gifts the kids with a fresh Nerf dart gun for the season. The kids wait with anticipation to see what kind of goofy dart gun they will get this year. They were not disappointed, as it was the battery powered machine gun. Nice.

They then descended into the blurry depths of Grandma's basement to test out their new weapons. As is socially acceptable to say these days, "It was on like Donkey Kong".

My daughter thinks she is going to get me here. HA!

I foresee in my crystal ball, yes all mothers have one, that the darts for these guns shall soon disappear.
So nice to be with family and having lots of fun. Your daughter and son obviously like the gifts from their uncle. Yes, I agree the darts will be lost in no time. -- barbara
ReplyDeleteThat's cute. The kids have a great uncle.
ReplyDeleteLiving about 3,000 miles away from home, surely a felt entry. Great to see such happiness.
ReplyDeleteWith regard to those guns, so far haven't seen them, luckily, over here. Yet, me son is just three years of age, I might still have some time left.
A good new week for you all.

Barbara - I kind of think I might "make" some of those darts disappear myself. Shhhh...don't tell.
ReplyDeleteToo bad about the darts, eh? :))
ReplyDelete(They would disappear at my house too.)
But every kid needs to have an uncle who is a ton of fun - for at least one day a year.
Their uncle is a mess. I can only imagine what your life was like! yep fun. But I think I might have borrowed a gun long enough to pop him one in the hiney.
ReplyDeleteI used to be "that" aunt. I'm a bit repentant since having children of my own. Hopefully nothing of value will go down in flames or pieces.
ReplyDeleteToo cute! He's the favorite uncle, I'm sure! :)
ReplyDeleteLovely moments to be in a family gathering. Beautiful children. God bless all of you. Hugs.
ReplyDeletefunny. too bad there's not a present that could get the uncle back...hmmm.
ReplyDeletelooks like fun! ;)
Looks like a great time. Oh to be a kid again. Maybe I should buy one of those and take it work.
ReplyDeleteI was quite deft in sabotaging my son obnoxious toys: I replaced good batteries with spent ones, shorted wires of noisy speakers, glued moving parts together...
ReplyDeleteWishing you peace at Christmas !!!
ReplyDeleteAhhhh...I like your crystal ball - ha ha!
ReplyDeleteShe is one happy looking girl aiming to shoot momma with a dart from her new machine dart gun.
ReplyDeleteFunny how those darts have a way of disappearing. Hopefully, the kids won't find alternate projectiles to try out in their new guns. :)
ReplyDeleteNerf guns entered our home through the generosity of my brother's Christmas gift to our 10yo son 3-4 years ago. Life hasn't been the same since, he now has a veritable arsenal of Nerf and air soft guns. Sadly, for my boy, his sisters are not at all interested in Nerf wars and so he is put in the unbearable position of having to use his guns to torment them from time to time...
ReplyDeleteI put up with the darts, reminding myself it's a short season. :)
Hope your Christmas week is fabulous!
It's alway good to have an Uncle that gives you "weapons" :).
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun Uncle!!! I probably would see that same thing in my crystal ball :)
ReplyDeleteLOL....
ReplyDeletehow fun!
LOL! Love it! Our dogs usually will take off with the little foam darts and then they are useless!
ReplyDeleteMr. Lincoln - It would have made her day to shoot me!!
ReplyDeleteMy son loved to play with nurf dart guns when he was young! He would love this gift! In fact he had to buy a grab bag gift for Toys for Tots for a 12 year old boy and he bought something sinilar but smaller. My daughter-in-law already told him not to get any ideas about buying one in the future for their son..lol!
ReplyDeleteWell, I've just spent about 45 minutes of my precious time while daughter is napping to catch up on your blog - love it!! By the way, when you write a novel, I'll be the first to read it - you've got a way with words!!
ReplyDeleteoh,my goodnes how funny!
ReplyDeleteEveryone needs a crazy aunt or uncle like that though....
I had two crazy aunts, and they always kept us kids guessing!
I used to give my nephews Christmas gifts that made lots of noise. They loved them and I got to tease my sister.
ReplyDeleteGlad you all had a wonderful time.
I love it! Sounds just like something your B-I-L would do. But my Casen would think those are the coolest guns ever. I haven't seen those. You'll have to get him to spill where he found them. I bet they had loads of fun. Fun for them - but not so fun when you find darts under the refrigerator, in the toilet, stuck in the Christmas tree - hehe - Glad you all had a great time together!
ReplyDeleteIvy - I appreciate you taking the time to read my ramblings! I know how precious those free minutes are when you are a parent.
ReplyDeleteCathy - I haven't found any darts in the toilet...yet. Although, I did have to tell my son, just today, to not shoot the pictures on the wall trying to get the darts to stick.
What a great fun post - and what a great uncle your kids have ! Too funny ! Good to see everyone enjoying themselves like that !
ReplyDeleteI must confess that I always removed the noise making apparatus from any toys my kids received e.g. the horrendous rattle from those toy lawnmowers, the 'squeak' from the plastic balls, etc - only way I kept some sanity.
i have been wanting that gun myself!!
ReplyDeletesuch fun traditions...
merry christmas
We have lots of those here on the farm. It seems we have more guns than ammo now.
ReplyDeleteLooks like everyone enjoyed themselves.
