Gentle Readers.....the following post has no cohesive thought nor flow. Due to the snow and cold weather I do think my brain has shriveled and is now incapable of true reflection. So, I decided to utilize my visual skills and sort through some older photos instead.
Here we have my own dear Toots really acting the part of a true ham.

A random barn shot....I do love them. And, there is the slightest sliver of a moon right above the roof line. A nice touch by Mother Nature.

A marshmallow fresh out of the fire. True summertime heaven on a stick.

A bad reputation as a weed, but beautiful
nonetheless.

Trap shooting practice should be starting soon and actually I cannot wait for The
Deerslayer to get back at it.

The weather forecast is calling for more snow. Seriously, I am going to turn into a flake before long.
The rain washed all of our snow away but now we're suppose to get ice tonight :(. I'm ready for some warm 70's.
ReplyDeleteYour photos are beautiful and not a snow flake in sight. I know we are all ready for spring.
ReplyDeletegreat photos...we got 4 inches of snow last night on top of the ice...I guess we are just trying to make our Super Bowl visitors feel at home...hope they take the weather back with them....78 on saturday 20 today....thats Texas...
ReplyDeleteohh! toasted marshmallows. I haven't had one of those in forever! I love the barn shot and pics of your girl. so cute
ReplyDeleteI hear you on the snow and cold. I visited my flickr account last night just to look at some summer flower photos.
ReplyDeleteGreat shots....I think the weed is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI am glad it is just COLD here and no snow......
Thanks for the look at warmer days.
ReplyDeleteMore snow? Ugh! I haven't seen the news in a day or two. Well, crapolla! I'm sooo ready for spring.
ReplyDeleteWell, we got about 4 inches (or more) of snow last night too, just so I could share your pain... Dang it!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful shots. The toasted marshmallow makes me yearn for summer on the prairie when we go camping. But we are a long way from that!

We are snowed in, way down here in Texas. I love that shot of the barn with the blue sky. I would love that blown up really big for my wall. Gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteI like very much....specially the first shot is great! Sorry for my English ...I would like to write more....;))Bye, bye Cy
ReplyDeleteOh but what a beautiful 'flake' you'll be!
ReplyDeleteThere is a whoppin' 44 days 'till spring and baby it can't come soon enough for me!!!
We have about four inches of ice under the snow and it's slick as snot on a frozen doorknob. Must we have more on top of that??? The the weatherman says, next week's gonna make this one look like a heatwave. What...are sub~zero temps not cold enough??? Whew, I'm glad I got that off my chest...I feel better now! Heehehe!!! :o)
God bless ya and have a fantastic weekend sweetie....stay safe out there!
I can't wait to have a roasted marshmallow again.
ReplyDeleteoh all the snow! I KNOW!
ReplyDeleteBut random shots like these are what we have to dwell on....(sigh)
Oh what gorgeous photos. I love, love the barn one.... and the shooting practice one makes me want to get out myself x
ReplyDeleteI like the barn picture. The picture of your son reminds me of how much I love to skeet shoot. Such fun!
ReplyDeleteI can't wait for the taste of a roasted marshmallow at a wiener roast. Something to look forward to.
ReplyDeleteGreat Pics!
ReplyDeleteI hope for a warm up for you real soon!
Spring is close....
There is a light at the end of the tunnel:)
Great shots - I can't wait for warmer weather!
ReplyDeleteIsn't life great !

These really make you long for warmer weather. I love roasted marshmallows.
ReplyDeleteFarmchick, you have a real gift for photographing the kids. When they grow up and look through the photograph albums from their childhood, these will be favorites. (So . . . get to work on those albums!)
ReplyDeleteLove the photos of time gone by.
ReplyDeleteI can't wait for outdoor fires at the cabin and toasting marshmallows again!
Love all the photos. Trap shooting....it has already began here in northern CA. My niece and nephew's b-day (ages 8 &11)party is coming up and it's a trap/target shoot party.....bring your own shells! Have a great weekend:)
ReplyDeleteI like how you connected some unconnected pictures. You gave me an idea...
ReplyDeleteI like to look back through old photos. We have over 100,000 pictures on hard drives. Unfortunately they are not all labeled so I have to look in a folder with a date going back many years to see what I was taking back then.
ReplyDeleteJust looked out. More snow is falling. I think this is an old-fashioned winter.
Ah... summer. Lots of times, I think winter was made just to lets us reflect on times like these. Ha!
ReplyDeleteMr. Lincoln - I think that is a great way to describe the winter we are having!
ReplyDeleteJack - Thank you and my kids are one of my favorite subjects.
ReplyDeleteLook at it this way, at least we don't have gorse along with the thistles! Scotland has a real cachet for hardy, spiny weeds!
ReplyDeleteWas the picture of Toots taken at Penn's? It pings my memory a little; we used to go out there about twice a year to buy country ham to ship to Dad's family out in Arizona. Way back when, you had to ford a little stream on the Mannsville road to get to it, and you had to call ahead (long distance) to find out if the road was passable!
The "HAM" photo really got to me!
ReplyDeleteMy guess is that the thistle in the photo is edible. Catch the green thistle when it is plump and no purple showing. I've steamed them. Ten minutes in a steamer, dipped in butter. Yum.
Sending warm wishes across the miles and DON'T FLAKE OUT!

Lovely pics of your kids especially Farmchick! Hope you get warmer weather soon!
ReplyDeleteAh, to feel the sunshine on your arms and the warm breeze on your face. I miss the summer days.
ReplyDeleteCruising your blog today. Just love all of your photos! They convinced me to be your newest follower!
ReplyDeleteAiredaleGirl - The picture of Toots was not taken at Penns, although your childhood memories of the place sounds like quite the adventure.
ReplyDeleteI’m flaking myself. I am uninspired to take photos as everything is just plain blah. No photos makes Amy a dull girl :) LOL We need spring!
ReplyDeleteThis was a neat post of fond memories past. :)
ReplyDeleteHowdy :)
ReplyDeleteFrom one flake to another thank you for a fantastic post to get my mind off of the weather forecast and on to happy times to come .
Spring will be celebrated in a big way this year after this crazy unexpected winter .
I'm ready for some warm
outdoor moments !
Blessings and hugs
Until Next Time
Happy Trails
Oh my gosh I hear this winter has been so hard on so many. The snowfall is quite amazing this year no doubt. I love this series and although you say it is random i see blue skies which makes me think of summer and warmer days ahead. I love to look back over old pics and am a sucker for barns too, fantastic how you captured a slice of the moon.
ReplyDeleteLove these pictures! The barn one is amazing, especially with the moon showing a little!! I don't know why, but I have always loved barn pictures.
ReplyDeleteI love those crescent moons! :)
ReplyDeleteWe had a few days of ghlorious blue winter skies but today they again turned grey. Our 9th snowstorm is expected in the coming week. I feel your pain!
ReplyDeleteFarmchick -- Your random thoughts are expressive of family, seasons, and a rural life -- all very inviting to folks that want to live the country life. -- barbara
ReplyDeleteall great shots-I like the random : )
ReplyDeleteI'm with you. I'm finished with winter. Atleast for this year.
