Last night was the debut of the Supermoon. A much discussed phenomenon this week where the moon is actually closer to the earth than it has been in eighteen years. I was looking forward to some photographic opportunities, but was sorely disappointed when our light cloud cover continued through the early evening. Even with a bit of clouds, the brightness of the moon lit up the entire farmette. Our very own nightlight.
Full Crow Moon - The calling of the crows signals the end of winter.
Full Sap Moon - Sap begins to run in the trees, thus a busy time for makers of maple syrup.
Full Worm Moon - Worms begin to show in the soil as spring begins.
I have been seeing plenty of worms lately, so I do hope spring is here to stay.

it was very bright and beautiful! Sorry you had some clouds.
ReplyDeleteIt was amazing--sorry about the clouds too. I like Crow Moon--very cool :)
ReplyDeleteIt's still storming here in California so I did not get the chance to view the Supermoon live. Enjoyed your photo:)
ReplyDeleteit was beautiful wasn't it...Happy 1st day of Spring...
ReplyDeleteOur super moon was also amazing! We were lucky enough not to have any clouds.
ReplyDeleteGood shot. The moon is considered one of the hardest objects to take a picture of. It comes down to, do you want detail of the surface or effect of which you did a wonderful job.
ReplyDeleteIt was gorgeous last night here as the clouds parted to show it off. I didn't know it was special so took no pictures, but enjoyed it for a long time, just watching. Thank you for all the information about a March moon.--Inger
ReplyDeleteWe had clear skies last night in Ohio. I happened to be out driving home around 10pm..it was huge and bright! At the time, I noticed it, but didn't know it was a supermoon!
ReplyDeleteIt was beautiful here on the farm when it first came up, but an hour or so later the clouds had come in a little. It was still great. The puppies sat and watched it forever.
ReplyDeleteHey you got a good photo, I went out to find it!! got a couple of shots before it went behind cloud.
ReplyDeleteHave a good week

Cool photo! We wanted to take the granddaughters out to see the moon but we too had clouds.
ReplyDeleteNext one is in 2029. I'm getting ready now. :)
ReplyDeleteLovely!
ReplyDeleteWE had completly overcast skies last night.
But, I do remember awaking sometime in the night and thinking it was morn, because it was so light out.
But, I wasnt bright enough to get up and look!
I turned over and went back to sleep.
Thankfully, others were smarter and captured photos:)
beautiful! we had clouds up here and didn't get to see it at all. :(
ReplyDeleteWe had clear skies last night and the moon was brilliant.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful night light.
ReplyDeleteMine was hidden...by snow.

We a few clouds but my shots did not turn out so good. Your has a real mysterious feel to it.
ReplyDeleteI couldn't get any good shots of the moon last night as there is too much street light where I live. I did enjoy watching it rise up from the horizon as it was so big and orange in color. Truly beautiful to see! Happy Spring!
ReplyDeleteFarmchick -- Nice shot of the moon even if it was cloudy. -- barbara
ReplyDeleteIt was beautiful here in India...
ReplyDeleteNot too many clouds here but the sky scrapers were definitely a huge problem!!
Loved your pic too:)
Still like this one - an air of mystery.
ReplyDeleteMe too, not just cloudy but raining these past few weeks ...
ReplyDeleteMoons a balloon.
ReplyDeleteBravo
It was amazing. For the past few nights, when our bedroom light went out, I kept thinking we'd left an outside light on. Even though I knew about the moon, it was so very, very bright through our curtains that I just had to get up and check. So lovely
ReplyDeleteFarmchick thank you for joining my blog.
ReplyDeleteThank you for posting the photos of the moon I was just saying to my husband I forgot to take a photo and it was so beautiful. I am glad that you caught it for me.Nice shot. B
I like the photo. I don't know anything technical about photography. I just like looking at pictures. You got a moon with clouds and it's cool. I like all the writing about the full moons. you forgot that it can make us women crazy....
ReplyDeleteI completely missed the supermoon! Better cloudy than nothing
ReplyDeleteDang it. I knew about it and then forgot to look.
ReplyDeleteHey there! I am a fellow south central ky blogger and just couldn't not say hi since you are the first one I have seen. I hope you are enjoying he bluegrass state!
ReplyDeleteWow! You know a lot about moons! I missed the super moon thing entirely. Forgot about it!
ReplyDeleteNice shot. It was closing in for rain here in southern California, too. I've noticed we often get rain on a full moon. Coincidence? I think not.
ReplyDeleteOH! Too bad it was a little cloudy!
ReplyDeleteI appologize for just now being able to read the post of all my wonderful friends...Has been a super busy weekend. Today has been busy as well with two funerals to attend...
ReplyDeleteWasn't the moon absolutely beautiful...I was indoors for a while and did not get to see it when it was in the orange stage...Thanks for all the info regarding the moon...
Looking forward to visiting with you tomorrow...
have a good one.

I missed it and I then I discovered later that it was cloudy here too.
ReplyDeleteI woke up in the middle of the night and half asleep thought there was a spotlight in our front yard. Fortunately I the other half of me woke up quickly! : )
ReplyDeleteI didn't know about all the "moon" information. We had thick rain clouds, so no moon visable at all.
ReplyDeleteI love telling the grandkids trivia like this, so thanks for giving me tidbits for tomorrow. My hubby would probably agree with your picture on the the sidebar.
march must be a big month for the moon with no less than three special names..........crow is my favorite.
ReplyDeleteWe actually got to see the moon - and I live in the northwest..where it usually rains til July! But, for some reason, we had a clear night! It was beautiful! Lit up the sky nicely!
ReplyDeleteCloudy here, too. Didn't bother with trying to get pics.
ReplyDeleteI give up on it : ) I'm glad you got a shot!
ReplyDeleteThe beauty of rural decay-now that's a line I like. I'm going to remember it too : )
ReplyDeleteLove the shots-just makes me wish I could go and prowl around them too-and know the stories of who lived there.
