Several days ago I wrote about Mrs. E and how she lifted my spirits with the gift of a small book....and some kind words. Many of you asked about the book and here it is. Written by Patti Digh, who is also the author of the book, Life is a Verb, this book is a collection of four word phrases to simplify life and provoke thought.

Twelve issues are incorporated, such as: Community, Love, Stress, Travel, Soul, Wellness, Success, Green, Activism, Children, Generosity, and Endings. Each phrase is illustrated by original art from the readers of her blog, 37days.
Some of my favorites are:
give up toxic people
mean what you say
risk your own significance
say what you can't
turn off the screen
know it will end
What about you? Do you have a special phrase, four words or not, that speaks to you? I would love to hear it.
I really really like the last 2 phrases..."turn off the screen" and "know it will end".
ReplyDeleteSuper good!
Great phrases. I really like #1 and the last two. My morning motivator before I get out of bed: "Today is going to be a great day!"
ReplyDeleteThat book sounds lovely. 'Do unto others as you would like to be done to' is one of my favorites. "Seize the hour and live your dreams" A big favorite.
ReplyDeleteI just Tweeted one today!.....

ReplyDeleteokay now I'm very curious. Its time for me to turn off the screen, so I'll have to check out her blog another day :-)
ReplyDeletedifferent times of my life have me thinking on different phrases, but "life isn't fair highness, anyone who tells you differently is selling something" is one I come back to. Especially now that I have my own batch of princesses to raise.
I am anxious to read these works. I like all the sayings that you listed. I also like "Life's not about me".
ReplyDeleteHave a good weekend.
Sure do - "If common sense were all that common, don't you think there'd be more of it around ?" (Mark Twain).

I like the "turn off the screen" from your post but my favorite is "Eat less, Move more." I try to live by it everyday.
ReplyDeleteMy husband's favorite saying is "If it can, it will," meaning if something bad could happen, it will --- so better plan for the worst, but hope for the best. :)

I am a firm believer in giving up toxic people. And the one, "know it will end" reminds me of my fav, "this too shall pass".
ReplyDeleteLovely blog which I've only just discovered and intend to return to regularly.
ReplyDeleteMy favourite motto: 'there's always a way' - and it only have 4 words, which is probably just as well or I'd never remember it, lol.
