News and Reviews from The Farmchick

Warning.....this post has no coherent topic line and is full of rambling thoughts and news. Read at your own risk.....

The hot news of the week is the bird nest in our fern. The out-of-focus-nest now has a total of four eggs and my daughter has identified the mom as a Chipping Sparrow. She is the tiniest little thing and as you can see, compared to my gigantic looking hand, the eggs are quite petite as well. I cannot wait until they hatch.

I submitted a picture of my Jack Russell buddy to Garden and Gun Magazine for their dog photo contest and she made it into their website slide show. You can check her out here. She is photo #18. I am so proud.....you would think I had birthed her myself.

Since I like to plan ahead, (not), I am wishing for a pair of these from Santa.

I have been wondering if these ladies would let me come work for them. They look like a whole lot of fun.

The city girl in me is wanting to zoom around Smalltownland in a brand new one of these. Black would be preferable.

This weekend I attended an historic home tour here in Smalltownland. Posts and pictures to come this week.

The month of May is a very busy time here at the farmette. It seems like every family birthday, softball game, trap shoot, and school festivity is crammed into this month. Wish me luck....I think I am going to need it.

After a post full of rambling I still would like to wish you all a great week!

  1. Linear thinking is overrated, Farmchick. Nice photo of your dog, and you deserve the Caddy and the boots. Have a fun week.

  2. sweet little jack! here i thought that was a boy and thought that was his name all this time... :)

pic #5 in that dog series cracked me up!!! :)

based on the gypsy girl jewelry stuff, boots and car wishlist, your 'chick' is coming out and tromping all over the 'farm' these days! :)

  3. Chipping Sparrows- one of my favorites! So hope you have a wonderful week despite the busy. It IS that time of year for country mom's....;)

  4. You too, dear! Happy you all found the nest -- it's one of nature's little presents.

  5. What a sweet little bird's nest! I think our birds up here are ready to fly south. On May Day it's in the low 30's and the wind is biting and very cold. Ugh! Come on spring!

    Loved your links...

Your dog photo is wonderful. I noticed most of the other dogs were not in such fun action shots as Shezz (hope I got the name right!)

The boots are divine but if you want beautiful boots you should contact my sister. She has a western tack store and sells amazingly gorgeous boots but about half the price of your little beauties! She's setting up a website (her store is called RM Tack) but I don't know how up to date it is. My darling daughter is in charge of that and she's crazy busy with turning 18, meeting a cute boy, working for my sis, getting her first car (happy birthday surprise from mom and dad) AND graduation this month! Whew!

I'd love to go visit the the Gypsy Junkers. Looks like too much fun. ;)

Finally, my midlife crisis car is a Ford Mustang. Not sure if it needs to be a convertable or not. Told dh I need it for my 50th birthday which is only 4 years away. WHAT?!! How did that happen?!! I've been having so much fun in my 40's I didn't even realize that 50 is just around the corner...

Enjoy your spring and busy month of May. I know the feeling. We've got a graduation party to prepare for and it's been so blasted cold up here that I haven't been able to get outside yet!

  6. Those blue eggs are so cute. I'm looking forward to pictures when they hatch. Every year we have birds that build nests in the hanging geraniums on our porch. It makes it difficult to water them.

    Your dog is a cutie!
