Twilight is that magical time of day between sunset and nightfall. When perfect light abounds and the lightening bugs come out to play on the farmette.
Also known as dusk, gloaming, half-light, and crepuscle, it has become my favorite time of day.
All dogs and children are wearing down for the day and our pastures are aglow with flashes of tiny lights. Cows rustle around and owls hoot in the distance.
Perfection

I would call it perfection too.
ReplyDeleteIt is perfect, isn't it? Sitting outside during that time and just unwinding is the best!
ReplyDeleteGreat photos! I love the twilight time of day!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos of a wonderful time of the day. In the hot summers it is my favourite time to work outside...well I start earlier and only stop when I can't see what I am doing. LOL.
ReplyDeletethese are absolutely beautiful. wonderful descriptions of that 'settling down' time of day...
ReplyDeleteI know just how you feel--except that we don't get the lightning bugs.
ReplyDeleteI know just how you feel, except we don't get the lightning bugs.

ReplyDeleteFarmchick -- your photos display the perfection you mention. Like the last shot as the shadows become dark, surrounding your place with peace. -- barbara
ReplyDeleteOoh yes, twilight and sunrise is another favorite time for me as well:)
ReplyDeleteI could lay in bed all night and watch the lightening bugs. They are so magical!
ReplyDeleteYour photos really captured the beauty of the sun setting on the farm. This is something I would never get to see if you didn't share it.Thanks!
Oh I love this time too. Right now, our sun doesn't get to this stage until well after 10pm, so I'm pretty exhausted by the time our sunset comes. But I love it. It's so peaceful. Ahhhh, I sit in 'my' chair, look out the window and just watch the sun set below the Atlantic. I love the colours, but I especially just love the p-e-a-c-e of it :)
ReplyDeleteI love these photos ...
Lovely shots! Twilight is such a wonderful time...even with our mosquito hordes.
ReplyDeleteTwilight is my favorite time of day as well, and you've described it perfectly!
ReplyDeleteThe things city dwellers can't even comprehend. Fabulous! It's a life worth living.

pretty photos - pretty words. I love your quote in the sidebar by Stacia Tauscher. There is something to think about!!!
ReplyDeleteLovely photos! I have yet to see a lightning bug...someday, I hope.
ReplyDeleteI really like the last two shots with just enough light that you could traverse the field without the aid of a lamp or light and yet it is dark enough to see all the fireflies rising up from their day time sleep.
ReplyDeleteI hear it's hot down your way. Here in Oregon it rained quite a bit of yesterday, just slowed down long enough for our son's BBQ.. and it's 57.4 here this morning! I love twilight too.
ReplyDelete((hugs)), Teresa :-)
No lightening bugs here...but I love that time of the evening too. Wonderful photos!
ReplyDeleteLovely pictures of an ending day.
ReplyDeleteI, too, love "first dark" as Grandpa Tweedy called it in Cold Sassy Tree! It is such a peaceful time.
