State Shoot Out

This week we loaded up the family bus and drove to the very crafty and scenic town of Berea, Kentucky.  Each year trap shooting squads, and individual shooters, converge on this city to compete in different trap shooting competitions.
The Deerslayer loves this sport and I like it because young and old alike can compete together in different events.  It requires focus, concentration, and some mean accuracy skills.

Here is the squad on the line during competition.

But, during a break, the Dads got into the act and starting shooting at a practice trap house.  The squad discovered what they were doing and started razzing them a bit when they missed.

And they weren't too quiet about the razzing!

Our very own Secret Agent Man is shown here getting SERIOUS about his shot people.

All in all a great day of competition where the squad competed well, as did our individual shooters.  Kudos to The Deerslayer for competing WELL and shooting above his average today.  We are very proud of him.

  11. Way to go, Deerslayer! I love trap and sporting clays and it must have been passed down.

    BRAGGING DADDY WARNING!

Our youngest was a championship 3 position rifle shooter in JROTC for 4 years. SHE led the county team to the Army Nationals twice and All Service Nationals once.

  12. Nice to see the shooting! Both of our sons shot 3 position small-bore competition and were on the #1 in the nation men's team for 3 years. Our youngest then got a full scholarship at University of Tennesee on their small bore rifle team and was invited to the Olympic Training Center in Colorado many times. He shot in an international match in Los Angeles once. So, we're a gun family.
    ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

  16. Interesting activity, never seen one; then again GUNS are totally illegal and forbidden. Even to own one is very difficult to get a license and may get into a lot of trouble.

  28. I think that is so cool. Good for the boys - both of them. I kinda wish my boys had the opportunity to do something like this - I theorize that these sort of skills give them a feeling a being able to take care of themselves or family that suburban young men miss out on.
