Behold da' biscuit.....
That quintessential southern bread item that every cook, worth her salt, must have in her repertoire.
If you live in any southern region of the U.S., it goes without saying that you must be able to produce a fine biscuit. Not just a suitable biscuit for company, but a creation worthy of praise from your own family members. And, it must not come from a can. That is comparable to a sin, harsh but true.
I have tried many standard biscuit recipes, with some great results. But, this little gem ranks at the top of the list. How could you possibly go wrong with soda, butter and sour cream.
People please......just make these....okay?
7-Up Biscuits
2 cups Bisquick, or comparable baking mix
1/2 cup sour cream
1/2 cup 7-Up
1/4 melted butter
Preheat your oven to 450 degrees. Mix all ingredients, except melted butter, in a bowl. It will form a very soft dough. Turn out onto a board sprinkled with Bisquick. Pat into 1/2 inch thickness and cut with your most favorite biscuit butter. Pour melted butter into a pan. *I used a 9-inch round cake pan with good results.* Place cut biscuits on top of melted butter. Bake for 12-15 minutes. Eat with copious amounts of butter, jam, honey, etc ....
You can thank me later.....
Oh my gosh....I must try these..they look heavenly.

ReplyDeleteMy cholesterol will be in a state of shock after eating those tasty looking biscuits.
ReplyDeleteDang, those look good!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness. I have never seen this recipe before! I guess I live North enough (North central Missouri) that I don't feel the biscuit pressure. My hubbie actually likes canned biscuits, as long as they are flakey ones. He really doesn't know what he is missing, since the canned are the only kind he will eat. Crazy man!
ReplyDeleteThey look delicious! I want one NOW!
ReplyDeleteMmmmmmm. You can cook. I specialize in eating.
ReplyDeleteI have yet to perfect a biscuit recipe...I love little secret ingredients, like the 7-up, can't wait to give these a try and see what my southern hubby says. Thanks, xo.

I have to try this recipe. Sounds mouth-watering - nuthin' better than homemade biscuits, real butter and homemade jelly!
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure what bisquick is but...we have a similar recipe over here - lemonade scones! A cup lemonade, a cup cream, 2 cups self raising flour and that's it! So simple but sooooo good smothered in whipped cream and raspberry jam :)
ReplyDeleteThanks ... I think it looks good !
ReplyDeleteoh lawdy mercy! I've never heard of biscuits made with 7-Up but I am all about trying these dudes! Thanks for sharing
ReplyDeleteBrings back memories of breakfast at my grandmothers either on the dairy farm in Marysville, TN or Gatlinburg, TN. In Gatlinburg they had their own bee hives and we had fresh honey with the biscuits and her home made perserves.
ReplyDeleteI am absolutely sure to love these!

ReplyDeleteWell! Aren't you the timely one! My 11 year old dear son just started going into work with my dear husband at 5:15am! (We have an insulation business.) He helps around the shop, loads trucks, whatever needs to be done. They come back home at about 8:00am and I have a hot breakfast waiting for them. I can't wait to make these for them. They will LOVE it! Thank you!
ReplyDeleteI have sausage in the fridge and was thinking about making biscuits and gravy for my hubby as a treat for the next rainy breakfast. I will make these and let you know how they turn out! Thanks! Off to the corn fields now!

ReplyDeleteOh my, your biscuits look so light and fluffy and GOOD!
ReplyDeleteI'm a fellow Southern gal, so I am REALLY going to try to make these!! My mother would make the best home-made biscuits, different varieties, but she passed away before I could get her recipe. I do remember her using sour cream, so I am crossing my fingers on your recipe!!!!!! Regardless, I'm sure they will be delicious.
