Ho, Ho, Ho...

I think we are finally settling into Christmas a bit more here at the farmette.  Things have died down a bit and with the chiclets and I off for winter break, it's time to break out the wrapping paper.

Christmas lights are going strong and ....
Santa is trying to climb into the vintage dollhouse.

Christmas cards are arriving in the mailbox with increasing regularity.  Catching up with long distance friends is one of my favorite parts of this holiday.

How are you getting ready for the Christmas holiday?

  1. I have bought all presents and wrapped most of them. In the Swedish tradition, I like to save some to wrap in the evening before Christmas Eve. I have sent out my cards and a box of gifts to a friend. House needs to be deep cleaned and decorated and then of course, hubby has to cook.

  6. Ohhh.. what I wouldn't give for an old dollhouse like that. I seriously want an old one like that. And I love how you're using an old card rack to display your cards.. such inventiveness! I'm pretty much done prepping for things as we had to have our xmas early as our son left for Los Angeles for his wife's brothers wedding and to celebrate with her family on "the day". Just enjoying the lights.

  8. The vintage doll house is fantastic!

Let's put it this way I'm one person and a K9 and I haven't mailed the Christmas cards yet (they're addressed and sealed), I haven't wrapped the pile of gifts in the second bedroom...HOWEVER I have my little 4 foot tree up and decorated, I have my manger scene out where I can see it and ponder the real meaning of Christmas and I finally have my lights up around the front door (the wreath has been up since Thanksgiving but I've tweaked it a few times)! Excellent progress for me!

  10. I'm with Jack, ditto... watching football, looking at blogs AND procrastinating. My Christmas break (I drive school bus) doesn't start until Tuesday afternoon... I love that shot of the vintage doll house and Santa! Lol...

  11. We can't have injuring himself like that ! if it's not the chimney, can he not use his magic front door key. I've sent my long distance letters off telling them the story behind the adventures of the year and looking forward to what they have to say this week. I've an armchair of furry snowmen and santas to position around the house.
Unfortunately I'll be working for 6 hours on Christmas day this year and consequently will be celebrating the day after.
I wish you and your family a very Happy Christmas.

  16. Hey! Love your card display and your old dollhouse. I guess most of older gals had one of those when we were young! Brings back good memories...

I'm ready for Christmas, too - presents all bought and wrapped, house clean, kids coming in this week, menu planned (at mom's)... I'm READY! Love me some Christmas! Have a very merry one!

  17. Finishing shopping...listening to Christmas music with the doors open (that's a nice aspect of living in Florida this time of year)...and writing Christmas cards. I'm old school and love the tradition of sending a handwritten card. Looks like you and your friends do too!

I've actually been a little side-tracked here with the arrival of Summer, our new granddaughter. I can't seem to stop loving on her long enough to get anything Christmasy done. Maybe this week....

  25. I am pulling into the home stretch. Love this holiday but usually at this point, I am feeling overwhelmed until the Christmas Eve festivities begin.

  27. Sewing, of course. Will finish up tomorrow and make fudge with the grands. Wrap presents and bake on Thursday. Just a little bit of decorating in my small cottage. Somehow it all gets done. What a great idea to use a card rack for Christmas cards. Wishing you and your family a Merry Christmas.
