And so the beloved photo program, Picnik, is no longer with us. This has caused me some sadness as Picnik has been my late night date many a time.
Yes I own a Photoshop program, but it isn't fun. I find it tedious and time consuming. Not things I like to associate with a hobby. A hobby I adore, I might add.
Upon first learning the news that Google + had acquired Picnik and was going to *gasp* close it for all time, I seriously thought I might have to revert back to using Photoshop.
Ewww.....
I have since found some places to have some fun with my photos.
Fun, being the key word here. Oh, and maybe, some awesome features as well.
Drum roll please......
Happy Editing!!

Thanks for your recommendations.... we too have Photoshop, but - like you - I don't feel I have the 'expertise' to use it. I liked Picnik.... gonna try some of these recommendations now :)
ReplyDeleteHmmm, what's the matter with Google +?! Don't like competition maybe? Oh well. Thanks for posting links for other photo editors. I will check them out.
ReplyDeleteI want to thank you too. I have photoshop elements and it seems to be easy enough to work with. Most of the time (99%) I do everything with iphoto which is on my iMac.
ReplyDeleteNice images!
ReplyDeleteI know..my heart was saddened as well, at the loss of picnik! How could it be?
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing these new sites with us...Have a great day!
Thanks for the links M. Me and my little point and shoot definitely need some improvements on a lot of our photos....:)
ReplyDeleteI have already reverted back to Photoshop for awhile now !
ReplyDeleteThanks for the suggestions, I'll have to check them out! I loved Picnic and I think when Google bought it, they were just trying to force us farther down the path to their world domination.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the links. I have been looking at piconkey this week, but love to have more options.
ReplyDeleteThanks for posting. I was so sad at the closing of picnik so I appreciate these suggestions. Now i will go blow half my day checking them all out :)
ReplyDeleteYour photos are so nice that I thought you always used Photoshop and spent a lot of time on them...so good to know that we can all do this. Thanks for sharing all of these links. - Have a great weekend. xo
ReplyDeleteI've been using picmonkey for awhile now and just adore it. I think it's even better than picnik was and so easy to use. Anyone can create amazing images with it.
ReplyDeleteWow! I went to fotoflexer and I got a list of Russian brides to have.
ReplyDeleteI could have used that six years ago.
i'm glad you've found new toys/dates. :) several bloggers have been enjoying ipiccy. i've been trying out picasa lately (also free). not sure how it compares to picnik as i never used picnik.
ReplyDeleteI loved Picnik, too! But PicMonkey seems to be filling the void. :)
ReplyDeleteI've had pretty good luck with Picasa. However, I wish Google would sort out the bugs in their " new and improved" version. I've been trying for 7 weeks to get a few work arounds. :-{
ReplyDeleteWhen I was sick, I had a nightmare that I was in a medieval dungeon watching a Google employee wind up my entire blog on a big spool! I am getting very, very fed up with Google.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing this information.
ReplyDeleteI'm dreading the forced upgrade to the new editor far more than Picnik stopping, I've found a few other places too (some the same as yours! :-)) plus for some of the simpler editing functions, Picasa now has them...
ReplyDeleteThese are all wonderful photos. I would frame the second and last shots! Absolutely smashing!
Thanks for all the links.. I'm glad I never found Picnick before only to have it wrenched from my grasp. The question is... which of those you listed is your FAVE?
ReplyDelete((hugs)), Teresa :-)
It is a sad farewell, isn't it?
ReplyDeleteI think most people have been going to the picmonkey. I do use photoshop when I edit, but most of my pics are unedited because it takes too much time.... probably why they don't look as awesome as your pictures!
ReplyDeleteSounds like you have found some great places to take your toys and play. Good for you! I will have to check them out. I use a program from Creative Memories, so I haven't branched out to the online places.
ReplyDeleteHappy Weekend!
WOOHOO!!! We have options!!! Well, not me. I've never pikniked in my life. But my girls have and were sad to see it go.
ReplyDeleteI've been using a combination of befunky and pixlr -- flickr introduced a new editing program called aviary, but I don't really like it.
ReplyDeleteTeresa - I like iPiccy and picmonkey. But, have really only used them a couple of times each. Time will tell!
ReplyDeleteJohn F - I had no idea fotoflexr offered Russian Brides. lol Seriously!
ReplyDeleteGreat pictures!! I loved picnik, and I think that picmonkey and I are going to be good friends too!!
ReplyDeleteI was super sad to see them go too. I have PS light room but I'm with you picnik was so fun and easy peasy to use. Thanks for the links I'm off to check them out now. BTW way the texture work in the second photo is awesome! Happy Friday
ReplyDeleteBe funky is a fun one! Love these shot. Have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteI know. I feel the same way. I have checked out PicMonkey and it seems okay.
ReplyDeleteYou are the second person to mention Picmonkey to me this week. I may have to try it out now.
ReplyDeleteI'm trying them all out, but so far I like iPiccy the best.
ReplyDeleteThank you for these interesting links. My photoshop version is more than seven years old and I only use it to attach Efix data - otherwise pictures remain 'straight out of the camera'. Please have you all a good Sunday.
ReplyDeleteAnd yes, the first picture of yours is amazing. Thank you for this inspiration.
Photoshop is difficult for me. I can do a few things (1% of its capability) but that is it. My son tells me I need to get with it but I think photography should be mostly fun. Besides I like natural photographs as well as "played with." They both have their attributes.
ReplyDeleteGood post -- barbara
Nice images.
ReplyDeleteThe tree in the open landscape is my favorite.
It boggles the mind that you would buy something then shut it down . . . I can't imagine what they paid!
ReplyDeleteIt was so easy to use . . . I agree with you about photoshop too! Ugh!!! But thanks for the other recommendations, I will be checking them out!
Thanks for stopping by my blog and for your comment on my "Wedding Cake House" post. That was such a fun trip!
Have a great Sunday!
Mary
I don't know much about this software, but it is sad to buy it only to close it...
ReplyDeleteI was a bit panicked as well! But found that picmonkey can be fun too!!
