Walking

Today I took the dogs for a walk on the farmette. I was looking for a bit of fall color, because really everything has been looking a bit like the flower....brown.

We found plenty of gold.

Then, my Jack Russell found, "something", in the dirt that she just had to roll in.  I can only think that it was something....icky.

We did find some Thistle going to seed,

and some trees starting to turn, just a bit.

We also found a butterfly still out and about.  Also, the bees were very busy.  They were loud, but very quick today, thus no photo.

Finally  a bit of orange, which is my favorite fall color.

Yellow, speckled leaves were everywhere......

a lot right here.

Then, just a bit of red.

The walk was complete when my Border Collie came up to me covered in what we like to call, "hitch hikers", or, "stick-tights".

This will be the fourth time this week I have scraped them off of her.

The joys of fall!

  8. Wow, what gorgeous photos. I really enjoy fall so much. I got a kick out of the dog rolling around. That happens with my Bella, but she usually smells so bad after she does that we have to give her a bath.

  16. Hi Michelle, Your photos are the neat kind of things I'm looking for on my walks around Green Lake, our big park here in Seattle. How great to have all this right there on your own place! I like the way you call it a "farmette" --- Keep on posting!!! :-) And thank you for your kind comments on John's Island.

  21. I miss the changing leaves. We used to argue about whether Vermont or New Hampshire had more colors in the Fall. In Florida, it is warm, but the leaves don't seem to change. I might have to take a vacation north.

  22. Beautiful! Did you know that you can actually eat those thistle blossoms? In the center of them is a drop of honey! Just weird stuff my mom taught me...

My grandpa taught me all about dandelion salad... but I won't go there with dandelions from my yard!

  23. Thanks for taking us on your walk..It reminded me a bit of the walks we take, especially the rolling in unknown things! Our leaves are starting to turn but have yet gotten to that 'shocking' color that the Fall is so famous for...can't wait! xo

  31. I really enjoyed walking with you in search of signs of fall. You have many more than we do here. I was in KY in October 2 years ago and got some fall color pictures. It's the start of more beauty to come.
Sorry your dog got into "trouble" again. When we lived in the mountains our dogs would be covered in foxtails. The worst was trying to get them out of ears and paws.
Thanks for sharing a little of fall.

  35. I'm jealous of your fall color. It's still in the 90's here every day. We are getting a cold front this weekend and one day won't get out of the 70's. We are all giddy with excitement.

  36. One of life's mysteries - why dogs like to roll in pongy stuff.
