Cold Blows the Wind

"Cold blows the wind, the frozen rain and fleecy snow descend;  for, freezing winter's come again, and so the year does end."

So says the current Farmer's Almanac, but seriously it felt like a pleasant spring day here at the farmette.  With temps in the seventies, it was really hard to believe that December had arrived.
The almanac forecast for my, "zone", describes my weather as turning, "unsettled", starting tomorrow.

We shall see.

If it were not for the weather, what would I blog about at times?

  5. Hi Michelle, I sure hear you about the weather. The same applied to me. I also am a fan of the Old Farmer's Almanac. It would be interesting to know if the folks who put the Almanac together are factoring in some of the climate change that we seem to be experiencing? I noticed yesterday's national weather map showed a big swath of warm weather all through the south. Are they predicting a warm winter? Have a great day, John

  9. I think the warm December weather is scary. It is just not normal and makes me wonder how far along we are in this global warming process. Last year our winter was so warm, some enterprising motel owner in town changed his sign from Land of Four Seasons, to Land of Three Seasons. This winter looks to be colder and wetter too. It was 26 this morning.

  10. weather is so important out on the farm...hopefully you still have farmers living around you...I bet they have their computers linked to all the online weather sites :) I play a game on my Kindle called Farm Story and I discovered after almost 4 months of playing that one of my game neighbors is a real honest to goodness farmer...I'm always impressed when I find folks who still love farming and don't mind competing with the agri-biz yahoos!!! always love your photos!

  20. What joy to blog about weather it must be. Seems as if winter arrived over here, during the night it is nearly as cold outside as it is in the fridge. Please have a good Thursday.

  26. I read the post header, then saw the photo, then the quote ... and thought you were in a time warp. But then I read about your 'winter' weather - explains the leaves on the trees and general summer-like look. Hope it stays that way.
