Nothin' But Gray Skies Do I See

Gray skies are everywhere today. Maybe not so unusual for December, but they seem to produce nothing but rain. Heavy downpours, thunder, lightning, and darkness permeated the day.

Having just read, Flight Behavior, it reminded me of the main character's dilemma with the weather.  The constant rain in Appalachian, in months when winter should have taken hold.

Weather that plays with the delicate balance of life in all areas.

The afternoon found some wet dogs around the farmette.

The rains did cease with an afternoon of golden light.  Just for the briefest of moments.

I even caught a friend posing.

For an even briefer moment.

"On the fifth day, which was Sunday, It rained very hard.  I like it when it rains hard.  It sounds like white noise everywhere, which is like silence, but not empty."

  2. Superb captures! I used to hate rainy days - but we are in such a drought that any precipitation at all is welcome. And we are getting a bit today :)

  8. Great photos. I really love the last one! What a cutie.

We've had lots of those kind of days where it is gray and gloomy all day long, then just as the sun is beginning to set the clouds part and the sun comes out.

  31. Hi Michelle, Great post today. May I invite you to Seattle? It will give "grey skies" a whole new meaning for you. :-) Oh, it's not really THAT bad, but this time of year it is pretty close. I love those last few shots of the dog ... at least you got some sun for a while. If I don't comment again before, let me wish you and your family a very Merry Christmas. John
