The Race Is On

Only three days of work this week.  Already I am wondering what my students will have to say about Friday's tragedy.

Last minute shopping this weekend for family Christmas celebrations.

Made a batch of my homemade hot chocolate mix as gifts for friends.

I also made this cake last night.  Mennonite Ladies really can cook.

If you have any little ones, the Reindeer Cam is a lot of fun.  Santa even shows up to feed them :)

Stay merry my friends.

  2. I am glad for my safe and peaceful childhood. I can't even imagine what children of today go through, having to face realities such as this tragedy. I know you will find the right words, Michelle.

  4. i considered making up a batch of your cocoa mix to have on hand for visiting family this week, but under the chance they wouldn't drink it all, i didn't want to be forced to finish it for the rest of the winter!

  7. Huge shock and grief here in Scotland. As you maybe know, we had a similar tragedy in a primary (elementary) school in 1996. Thankfully that brought in even tighter gun control. I know this is a contentious issue in the States, but we are glad of these laws in Scotland.

That cake looks delicious - am looking for new things to bake with my daughter when she comes home from university this week. I will need to convert the American measures into European, however - fingers crossed!

  8. Hopefully, most kids won't have heard about it. Why fill them with worry at that age?

Enjoy your few days! I'm sure the kids are wired anyway. lol... Mine go the entire week...for which I'm grateful. ha.

  11. Merry Christmas to you and your family. It is going to be great to be able to kick-back and enjoy the festive season.

I am going to pass along the Reindeer cam to my nephew. He will love it.

Monday will be a tough day. Kids will have a lot of questions where there is not a lot of answers.

  19. What a pretty picture!
As for Friday's events, I'm at a loss... words cannot describe. When I try to imagine what those parents are going through, it tears me up inside.
    I'm praying for the families.
