Dog on a Log

A dog on a log went for a jog.

She didn't wear her clogs or jump in the bog.

Thank goodness there wasn't any fog.

One small ode to the irreplaceable Dr. Seuss.

Celebrated by schools, this week, as a man who brought so many children into the world of reading.

  6. Sweet! I love Dr. Seuss, but it amazes and confuses me that when I compare something in Mammoth Cave (where I guide cave tours)to pictures in Seuss's books, most children have no idea what I'm talking about. We need a Seuss revival!

  7. We humans get on a log and right away start the balancing act of sticking out our arms and twisting and turning to stay on. Animals, because of there inability to think, reason or to have fear just get on and take their jog. Oh to be like an animal sometimes.

  9. I do remember with fondness reading Dr. Seuss growing up. So much fun rolling the words around my tongue as I read the stories aloud. Seeing your little JRT is bringing memories of my little JRT in the woods.

  14. Very cute. Love dogs. It did remind me of the scene in the original Fay Wray version of King Kong when they were trying to cross over the cliff on the log.

  28. My sons loved his writing. And I read them so many time I think I could repeat some from memory. The boys would get outrage when I occasionally changed the words. "You can't do that dad." :)
