Just What We Needed

We have a new addition here at the farmette. Really, I would have picked a goat or perhaps a few sheep, but the girl of the house made the decision.

And, a parakeet it was.

Because every farm needs a parakeet.

He is a bit of a ham.

He fits in quite well.

  2. Awww....he's cute. Growing up, the boys across the street had a parakeet. It impersonated the voice of the father incredibly well. Have fun!

  10. Your daughter looks so happy and what a sweet smile she has. Reminds me of my kids when they had their braces. I'm dreaming of sheep and goats myself, little birdies are fun too.

    Have a great day!

  14. He's so handsome! I had a parakeet at her age too. His name was Tuffy. They make wonderful pets - I taught mine to whistle a couple of songs and he could say "pretty bird" and "good boy".

  15. What a darling parakeet. But, so is the girl of the house. Love the smile! We used to have a pair of parrotlets that I just loved. But, I wasn't allowed to bring them into the island when we moved, so I gave them to a good home.

  16. SO cute.. what did she name it? I've had parakeets and have enjoyed them. Some can be very entertaining - one of ours would sit on the dining table and try to steal bits of things off our plates. ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

  37. love! my 8 yr old has one. It came home when she was 6. SHe wanted a cat. Dad said no. He'd been saying no. Finally she asked "when dad is dead can I have a cat?" so I asked if there was anything else that would do... sadly the 3 yr old terrorized it and the bird would never sit on anybody's head intentionally.
