Moms are the Bomb

In many ways I think we cannot fully appreciate the work our parents did for us, until we become parents ourselves. Being a mom is often a thankless job. I mean, making sure everyone in the house has clean underwear doesn't exactly make one feel like a super hero.

My mom, Babs, at a family dinner a couple of years ago.

My mom was the person who always made sure I had clean clothes, a clean face, and a full tummy.

She cleaned our home everyday and supper was on the table every night.  With. out. fail.

She endured being an Air Force Wife, meaning due to my Dad's job, he wasn't always around to help with parenting.

She went to cosmetology school when I was in high school.  This meant that she gave my friends, and myself, punk haircuts out on the car port.

She has helped me pick out countless prom dresses, and one wedding dress.

She has always listened to my drama.

She sends my kids, "Nana Boxes", in the mail complete with whoopie cushions, pretend slime, candy, and assorted items that make me cringe.  The kids have always loved them.

She and my daughter have nightly phone conversations.

And, I miss living near to her.

Love you Mom.....

Talk to your Mom today....she is important.

I see your photos have appeared in Mature Living, my article on prayer walking and how it helped me deal with grief is in the current issue of that magazine. Congrats on your photos being published.

  35. That is a very fine post. You are fortunate that you can write it for her while she is here. But . . . listening to your drama? From reading this blog as long as I have, I would say that you are about as drama-free as a person can be.
