On the Wings of a Butterfly

I was lucky enough to get some captures of this Eastern Tiger Swallowtail feasting on the Zinnias.

It wasn't too difficult to photograph.

It just flitted from flower to flower.

Certainly not in a hurry.

Both of us were enjoying the last bits that summer has to offer.

"Butterflies are not insects, Captain John Sterling said soberly.  They are self-propelled flowers."

  4. We have had dozens of them around the mimosa and butterfly bushes this summer, must have been a good year for them and the black version which I have seen mating with the yellow ones so they must be cousins.
