Random Five Friday

During my travels last week, I came across this pink gem at a gas station.  After asking the gentleman if I could photograph his car, he said of course, as long as I gave him a kiss.  I must have given him quite the look, because he laughed and we shook hands instead.

How about The Chieftans on this fine Friday?

The wood stove is keeping us toasty as it was 28 degrees here in central Kentucky last night. Just where did fall go?

My son has already acquired my hairdryer for his garage/blacksmith projects and now wants my griddle.....

Earlier this week my husband e-mailed me an ad that had alpacas for sale.  I just don't know about this kind of acquisition.....

Linking up with Nancy today!  Pay her a visit!

  1. Love that pink Volkswagen. I hear that fall is coming back next week. Apparently it got lost on one of our back roads. xo Laura

  2. Ha, the guy probably gets a few kisses that way, it was worth a try. We had a bug like that, you had to raise the front hood to get to the gas cap.

  7. The pink VW is precious, indeed!! LOL at him asking for a kiss. That is precious, too! I am cold this morning, and it's only 55° here! Glad you have that wood stove to take the edge off for you!

  10. Stand your ground, Michelle. that picture is cute as a bugs ear but not worth a kiss. Not from a stranger.

  11. Michelle,

I like the bug find. My Sister always dreamed of having a red bug and painting black spots on the top.

He had a major blizzard October 4 and it has been gray, cloudy or rainy most days this month. We have not fired up the corn stove. The heat from a corn stove or wood stove is so comforting.

Not sure what to say about the alpaca. My Mom has an alpaca/llama cross for a guard animal in her sheep pen. I would say they would make an okay pet. If you are into spinning you can grow your own fiber.

  16. I wonder if that pink bug was actually the guy's or did it belong to his wife!!! It is quite chilly here in Indiana, and I too have been wondering where did fall go.

  17. Catching up on some reading and am so happy to read that your Dad is beginning to heal. Life IS so fragile and hugging our family is so important. The fact that your students have asked for prayers says so much about their teacher~your influence is not going unnoticed.
As for that pink bug, loved to see it. Mine was red and do I ever miss her. She was a trouper through deep snow.
One more thing, ........ the paint by the farmette, he reminded me of Poncho, our first paint of the many horses on the farm. Thanks for such a fond memory. Prayers for your Dad and your family.
    Life is Precious

  38. I've had 4 of these cars. '61 with soft sunroof that opened enough for my base drum to fit through along with the rest of my drums. A '63 & '65 when I got married. Traded my Opel Kadett Rally in for both as my new wife didn't have a car. Her 64 was in better shape than my 65. Lastly, a '71. First year for A/C. It was a bright orange which was good in that others could see you on the road. If you turn the A/C on at 35mph the car tended to go backwards and if you wanted to pull out on a highway it better not be on if you really wanted to merge and not drive down the berm. Loved all 4 and if I could find the one I'm looking for now it would be in my garage. Air cooled....clackety clack...best sound ever.

  45. Well I'm quite late with the comment but it was a super busy week for me so I'm just getting caught up. Love that Pink VW Bug, I think I may have kissed the guy to take a photo of that. Not something you see everyday for sure.
Alpaca's are so cute. Of course I'm a "city" girl so I'm just going to admire other people's.

  46. Lovely pink gem with an interesting owner.

  47. No doubt the VW owner has been asked before ... invading his personal space :-)
My only experience with Alpacas was at a guest house in Scotland http://www.ewich.co.uk/wp/ . I wasn't sure about them either but I'm told that they're friendly enough. The owners love them & probably got them as an attraction but there is a reasonable field for them in a wooded valley. They've just got some ponies recently to add to their collection.
