Random Five Friday

It rather strikes me that the pumpkin in this shot doesn't look real.   Seriously, it is.....

These girls can SING!  Check out their A Cappella version of, "Royals".

I made this to take to our pot-luck dinner at work today.  Just buy a container of chocolate frosting to use on top.  You can thank me later.

Anyone have a book recommendation?  Anyone....

Blogger has been giving me trouble lately.  Not always able to access blogs on my list.  What's up with that?

Happy Friday!

Linking up with Nancy!

  11. i'm biting my tongue on blogger. it gave me fits for 2 weeks straight - not recognizing my posts existed for hours after it was already there. it seems to have remedied itself (fingers crossed). guess we get what we pay for... ;)

  12. I just finished 11/22/63 by Stephen King. I had never read a book by him before, but at 800 pus pages and the cost of 75 cents in the thrift store I thought I would try it. And I really liked it. It's about time travel, trying to stop the assassination of the president, and consequences, but most of all it is a love story, and a story of a small Texas town in the early 1960s. You know, Friday night football and all the rest. It far exceeded my expectations.

  13. You had me at chocolate!

Yes, issues with blogger too. Posts taking a day or more to show up in the feed. At one point I couldn't access my dashboard at all. Frustrating....

Have you read Flight Behaviour by Barbara Kingsolver? Telling the Bees by Peggy Hesketh and The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry by Rachel Joyce were two of my favourites this summer.

  22. Hi Michelle. I usually always reach for a Terry Pratchett disk world novel when I don;t have anything to read and reread one of those. I love his humour/satire/fantasy/political writing. No wonder he's the most loved author in the UK. :) Hope your weekend turns out to be lovely one. :)

  23. If you like Kingsolver you will probably like Ann Patchett's books. I just finished State of Wonder. If you like magical realism I recommend Eowyn Ivy's The Snow Child. If you want something that will really make you think, and you're not offended by reconfigurations of major religions, then I recommend The Way by Kristen Wolf.

  29. Oh my goodness, that eclair cake looks and sounds delicious! The pumpkin does look fake, because it doesn't seem orange enough! I have been reading the Outlander series of books, by Diana Gabaldon. There are seven books, and I just started the fourth. I am totally engrossed in the characters and 1750s Scotland!
