Moo to You

No matter where I am lately, animals seem to take precedence.  Be it dogs, squirrels, or cows, it is all about the animal kingdom.

We have a new group of steers that have taken up residence at the farmette.  Though they are weaned and can eat grass/dry feed, they are just mere babes.

And, they are very unimpressed by the human and canine presence surrounding them.

These boys were not afraid to get up close and personal with me.  No doubt wondering why some chick was in their pasture.

Unfortunately, the dogs seems to be enjoying the fresh manure just a little too much.

That is all I am going to say about that.

  1. Our dog prefers horse manure but a farmer recently told me about how two stray dogs lived across the creek from his farm and lived off of cow manure for several weeks before he could get them tamed down. They seem to be fine and have had run ins with coyotes and are loyal to the farm. There must be some good stuff in cow pies.

  5. Your dogs remind me of the song in the movie "Oliver", only in your dogs' case it's "Dung, glorious dung!" That's putting it rather mildly, of course. :-)
