Random Five Friday

This photo represents what happens when you decide to have a Monopoly game on New Year's Eve and discover the game pieces are missing.  Bring in the Army men!  The Monopoly game continues each night and rests on the formal dining room table each day.  When will it ever end?!

My husband found an ad on Craigslist for Showgirl Chickens.  Being unfamiliar with this breed, but thinking they must be quite pretty, I just had to look them up on Google.  Oh Dear!  Not what I was thinking at all.  You can check them out here.

I am ready to place an order for heirloom tomato seeds from Baker Creek Heirloom Seeds. I am thinking Brandywine and Cherokee Purple for sure.

Alan Bradley's new book in the Flavia de Luce series comes out in a couple of weeks.  If you haven't read any of the books, I highly recommend them.  The series begins with, The Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie.

Hooked on Houses has featured The Top 10 Houses of 2013.  You know you want to take a look.....

Linking up with Nancy today!  Pay her a visit!

  4. Well the links you provided were a good read for sure. We played monopoly on NYE but discarded all of the normal pieces and played with lego people instead. Interesting as they all looked the same after a few too many beers !!!!
Those Chickens are something else though. Not my cup of tea, its like the poodle of the chicken world
Have a great day Michelle :)

  6. Alan Bradley, noted! Monopoly, I was an only child and my Mom had an endless source of patience and fun, our longest game went on for 3 months and she kept it under the sofa until our cat messed with the pieces then she put it in a cupboard.

  16. As a friend of mine says politely of people/things not gifted by beauty lol: 'not a handsome ______' (fill in the blank with baby, car, man woman, outift, building, pie, etc etc! So you'll appreciate it when I say 'not a handsome breed of chicken' roflmao... And what is it with men and Craigslist? Ohmygosh I've yet to meet a guy who DOESN'T scour those offerings nearly (if not actually) daily :-)

Thanks for the links - will make good use of them on this -25 feels like graded day. Sun at least - that's something....

Love your header as it gives my heart confirmation of better seasons a-comming.

Now back I go to the 'to do list' for today (or tomorrow, or soon-ish, lol)

    Hugs Issy
