The Inaugural Run

Spring Break wasn't all about chicken acquisition and the replacement of old flooring.

We took some time out of the sports practice/farming/home improvement schedule to float an afternoon away down a local creek.  But, first things first, as two teenagers decided to see who could skip a rock the farthest.

I cannot say who won.....they might read this blog.

It was also time for the young man of the house to test out the kayak he received as a birthday present.

There was also a bit of fishing that happened along the way.

Super tiny fish on the end of the pole.

Some people didn't want to take their own fish off of the hook, so their dad did it for them.

We spent a lot of the time soaking up the scenery.

The young man, in his kayak, is but a mere speck in this majestic scene.

  14. They keep having manure spills here and closing the creeks so we would only catch sewer trout I guess but you guys have a really nice waterway.

  23. It looks like a wonderful afternoon! I'm sure that kayak is going to get lots of use. Do you eat those fish? A neighbor gave us wild trout they caught here and while we loved the fish, all the little fish bones were annoying to eat around.

  32. What a beautiful place to spend the day with family. It's been a long time since I was in a small boat - I had one as a child. There is nothing sweeter than going for a 'run' with nobody but the dog. What a great birthday gift for your son. xo Karen
