Random Five Friday

This fluffy flower is currently making itself known around our farm.  Pretty to photograph, but they multiply way too quickly.

Hey, the Kentucky Derby is this weekend.  Have you picked your horse yet?  If not, you can scan the selections and post positions here.  I am a bit partial to the jockey, Calvin Borel, riding on post position 19.

Just in case you have ever wondered what it is like to ride a thoroughbred race horse you can check out Calvin's helmet cam here.

Trisha Yearwood's Nashville home is for sale.  I think I could live there.

Naturally we need a little music to round out this Friday's selection.  It's good to be from Kentucky.

  1. I think I could be happy in Trisha's home. The Derby brings back such fun memories with friends. I WILL attend one day. Those durn poof balls would be perfect if they would just stay like that. Have a lovely weekend!

  8. I do not know much of horses, but I know three races, and Kentucky Derby is one of them. I am still hoping for a Triple Crown winner after so many years...

  14. We have not been blessed/plagued by dandelions yet.. it's been raining for days, I have a feeling that when the sun comes out we're going to see them popping up all over the place.
    Happy Weekend!

  19. I remember as a kid, how I couldn't wait for the dandelions to cover the yard....loved making wishes as I blew on it.
Now, I do all that I can to keep them out of our yard. I think I could probably stay a few nights in Trisha's house!! What fun it would be.

  22. I used to have an ex thoroughbred racehorse mare. She was huge, and she was FAST. Also, she could jump the moon. Those horses are full of power, but man are they ever jittery too.

  23. Maybe it's a country 'thang'? (lol) but I love my (or anyones') fields and lawns carpeted with dandelions! First the riot of happy color, then the puffball of possible wishes :-) And with good SHARP lawnmower blades or the whirring hum of the tractor gang mower behind the 'ol 8N the 'wished out' stems go down...

    Hugs, Issy

  24. I've been helping my mom to get rid of the dandelions from her garden - the root is very long, though!
    Enjoy the weekend, Michelle!

  27. a few years back we took a tour of churchill downs, it was awesome! and to see the horses up close was incredible, they are so beautiful! when we lived in georgia, trisha yearwood's home that she grew up in wasn't too far from us. we'd drive through quite often, it was a cute little southern town...i think the name was monticello if i remember correctly!
