Breaking Away

Like many families, we have been busy this summer with sports and other commitments.  So much so, that we really haven't broken away and taken a trip anywhere.

So, we packed up the teenagers of the house and took off to Nashville for the day.

Our first stop was Climb Nashville, where the kids practiced some climbing and bouldering techniques.

They could have stayed all day, but we needed food!

So, we stopped at the Athens Family Restaurant featured on Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives, on the Food Network.  Four thumbs up from this group.

After some shopping and general goofing off in the city, we ended the night with more climbing as the kids tackled the sixty-foot wall.

That is the man-child on the right and he did make it to the top.

The girl of the house is pictured on the left, touching the top of the wall.

Both had to make it to the top.  One cannot outdo the other!

  2. What a fun trip!!!!! I would have croaked climbing those walls. I can barely make it up a three step ladder and I'm dizzy :/

  3. Wow- good for them! You wouldn't catch me doing that unless you paid me- a LOT!
Sounds like a fun time and a perfect way to spend time as a family (it can be so hard to do things with teens sometimes!)

  5. Great fun. I wish that facility had been available when I was a teenager ... I just learned the hard way outdoors with lots of cuts and bruises!

  7. Must be nice to get away for awhile, we don't have anyone we trust to look after the animals. Those tees have energy that we need! Have fun.

  18. The kids talked you into going back after dinner? These are not only strong kids, they are pretty persuasive kids. (I am impressed that Toots can keep up with big brother at wall climbing.)

  29. Fun photos Michelle! I would love to climb that wall but my other self tells me not to be so silly and to keep my feet on the ground, that I have a tendency to fall out of my shoes so goodness knows what could happen if I got as much as two feet off the ground ;) Thanks for my birthday wishes, and appreciate your kind thought very much. Have a great day :)

  37. What an awesome experience. From someone that has only had mild scrambling (maybe 45 degree angle) experience on the mountain side, this activity in the vertical zone takes tremendous strength, respect.
