Golden Days

Like so many people, Autumn is my favorite season.

I cannot say which is my most favorite; pumpkins, the leaves already falling from our trees, or the Goldenrod in bloom all around us.

Today I will say the Goldenrod.
It provides me with so many wonderful scenes right outside my front door.
But, tomorrow I might say pumpkins.

"The Goldenrod is yellow,
The corn is turning brown,
The apple in the orchards,
With fruit are bending down."

Helen Hunt Jackson

  2. The barn surrounded by what looks like goldenrod is my favorite, Michelle. I also agree that autumn is the best season, both for temps and colors and most of all photo opportunitites.

  13. I too love Fall. Sadly for us, it doesn't come until late November….and of course Palm Fronds don't change colors. :) BUT, I do love the crisper mornings and turning the a/c off for a few months. Lovely photos.

  15. It really is beautiful I think I may have mistaken Goldenrod for Ragweed.....for several years now. I looked both up and the goldenrod is bright yellow, while the ragweed does not have colorful blooms. Hmmmm...I've been missing out!

  16. Lots of goldenrod here, too bad nothing eats it as it seems to take over the pasture. Bees like it I guess.

  19. Seeing that old barn through a field of goldenrod is a fine sight. But, fall being a favorite? Are you forgetting how cold and barren November and December are? I like the slight cold we are having now, but it will get stale in a month (so I will head to Florida).

I hope it works if you copy and paste. I have loved that poem by Helen Hunt Jackson as long as I can remember. Mom always said it, and I still do. As I mentioned in the blog post the links are to.

  25. Count me in also as one of those people that likes the fall season. It's the colours that I like... and the lack of bugs. :)
