Boys Will Be Boys

This past Sunday afternoon my son had friends coming over to film some scenes for a Senior class project.

I had my orders to stay inside.  And, especially, no photographing the activities.  But, how could I not peek?  These days are numbered.  Life is dashing by at the speed of light.

The Lady of the Yard surveying the Autumnal scene.  This photograph has nothing to do with this post.

So, I looked out the laundry room window and what did I spy......

~young men jousting with poles....on bicycles, with Secret Agent Man's body armor~

~the wearing of long, brown bath towels as tunics~

~one young man wearing a black, curly wig~

~a homemade crossbow being fired~

~an arrow being used inappropriately, as a body part no less~

~lots of laughter, fun, and camaraderie~

Though I still haven't witnessed the completed video, I have no doubt the high school teacher will let me watch, if I email a quick request......

"True terror is to wake up one morning and discover that your high school class is running the country."

Kurt Vonnegut

  1. Even though the photo doesn't relate to the post, I think it's a perfect symbol for autumn. Love it. I hope you get hold of that video! :)

  2. Lol - you paint quite an amusing picture! Sounds like they were having fun. How do you find such situation-perfect quotes?

  3. I'm laughing, because I know how silly boys can be. I don't know what to be more worried about, because I am watching my kid's generation run the country right now and I am not too pleased with the job most of them are doing. I hope my grandchildren have a country to run when it's their turn.

  17. You are SO good to mind your son and not go out there and embarrass him by shooting tons of photos and blogging about it all! But the verbal description was fun. ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

  18. Our grandson and his friends actually had a YouTube channel for awhile, posting dozens of silly videos they made. Of course I subscribed and kept up with all their fun. He told us awhile back that he deleted the channel (or whatever they call it). What a shame. Glad you peeked and got to see some of it being made!!

  20. OH to be young and create worlds and stories with what's at hand we lose that feeling as we grow older.

  21. You might as well start crying your eyes out now about the young man graduating and leaving the house. Get a head start. I'm kind of sad myself just thinking about it. And that Vonnegut quote cracks me up every time I see it. My own high school class was not so prominent that it is running the country, but my college and law school classes have amazed me with what they have turned into. (Hint, the mousy girl who sat in front of me in economics classes is now running the Federal Reserve, and I used to carry the briefcase of a guy who was his party's nominee for President.)

  28. I taught high school English for 32 years so it was fun reading this and getting a glimpse of what goes on behind the scenes of a project!

    It does go by fast.
