Friday Randoms

Someone is slowly bringing this old beauty back to life. The work is so slow I think it might be a weekend warrior type of project.

Billy Joel does a fantastic job covering Paul McCartney on his version of, "Maybe I'm Amazed".

I have to say that Sophia Lauren's explanation of her side-eye to Jayne Mansfield gave me a good chuckle.

Anyone out there use Norwex cleaning products.  Discussion about the products at work has prompted my curiosity.

Tomorrow morning is opening day of rifle season for deer, here in my neck of the woods.  A total man-fest weekend.

Linking up today with Tanya.  Go forth and have a great weekend!

  3. I would love to see that old house, Michelle, when it is finished. Don't you just love that sweeping porch. Never heard of Norwex products. And, no, I did not read Sophia's comment about Jayne's oversized boobs. Now, you have me wondering what it was she said. Maybe I can find that again and see for myself.

  7. Wow!
It took Sophia this long????? Amazing. I knew exactly what the side-eye was directed towards, as soon as I saw this classic. As a young teen boy... The nips have it!

  12. Seeing old houses and barns being renovated always makes me happy! That house is beautiful and will make a wonderful home for a special family one day (soon!). Sophia and Jane...very funny photo and I love her explanation! Priceless!

  14. Put the cows in the barn and keep your head down during rifle season. In Bluff Country they only allow shotguns and slugs so they can't get you or the deer from so far away....:)

  15. I am SO happy to see that house being rescued!! Bravo to whoever is doing that. I got a chuckle out of Sophia, I always loved her.

  16. I LOVE that song!

As for Norwex, I went to my first Norwex party a few weeks ago and won a Brillo type spongy pad thingy. I LOVE it! I use it on everything...
I also paid the $10 (I think it was) might have been $20... for a wash cloth! And I really like it too! It's supposed to clean all the bacteria off of everything you wash it with because of silver being sewn into the fabric. weird... It works great on our front window! Normally I'll use Windex and a lot of elbow grease and still leave lots of streaks but I didn't when I just used water with the wash cloth and then wiped down the window with a normal dry cloth. That's the best our window has ever looked...
So, if nothing else and you're feeling pressured to buy something, go for either the wash cloth or the spongy brillo thing!

  17. That house is quite lovely and it's so nice someone is restoring it.
Now days they would call Mansfield's outfit a "wardrobe malfunction"! - I could understand Sophia's fear.
Billy Joel sounded great on the song. I'm curious as to how Alice Cooper did on Eleanor Rigby.

  18. I'd really like to have a house like this to bring back to life. Big county kitchen to gather in as well as the big porch as well.

  19. That is a lovely place. The kind of house I like.

I listened to the Billy Joel version. It is pretty nice, but I still prefer McCartney. But, it reminded me that I had not yet listened to Aretha Franklin's cover of Adele's Rolling in the Deep. Now, that was a very good cover. Maybe not enough to displace Adele's version, but very good.

  20. Maybe I'm Amazed is my husband's song for us, going back to 1981, when we were engaged. Have you heard The Faces version?

  21. Billy Joels version is awesome….that is one of my all time favorite songs!
The house is just delightful! I agree with Sophia….just waiting for one of those to fall out. :)

  23. I have used some Norwex. Dryer balls never leave my dryer, washer ball never leaves my washer. And, I haven't bought a bottle of windex since buying their special cleaning clothes.... AND I finally have streak free windows. Couple other products haven't impressed me as much.
Have fun will man-fest goes on.

  27. What a beautiful old house! It sure looks like a lot of work to restore and keep up though. If it's opening of deer hunting season, does that mean girls weekend for you?

  28. I love when an old house gets the care it deserves! And it was nice to hear Billy Joel sing pop again.

  29. Hi Michelle, I really like the way you give us so many things to check out in one post and often on such different topics. Your photo of the house is great. I wondered what the red and black signs said that were posted on the columns by the entrances? Billy Joel IS fantastic! Sophia Lauren’s explanation IS amusing! And I like this idea of a “man-fest” weekend. Are those things still allowed? : - ) Yesterday I went to a “swap meet” for railroad/train enthusiasts. I guess it was definitely a man-fest thing! Old man at that. Ha ha. Hope you are having a great weekend. John

  30. That nice building deserves all the love it can get... Looking at the picture, the reason behind Sofia Loren's side-eye was quite obvious!
