Springing Forward

A big warm up is on the books for this coming week.

Snow that blew into our barn.

It can't come soon enough.

Fancy door lock

I just might have to wear a pair of sandals to work this week as a sign of enthusiasm.

Old chicken wire

Yesterday I ordered two small solar powered fountain pumps for gardening projects.
I am ready.....

Sweet bird feet
My students will be so excited to play outside this week.
That hasn't happened in a couple of months.

Naked tree in the front yard.

Pretty soon this tree will have leaves on it.
I don't think I have been this excited for spring in a long time.

  2. I saw a lady in flip flops the other day and it was in the 40s. I was bundled in boots and a sweater. She obviously knew more than I did because the very next day the sun came out and it got up to the 60s. Happy Spring!!

  3. Thanks for tuning in, Michelle! ;-)

Now winter here in southern Germany seems to be on its last lap! Today we've blue sky and pleasant temperatures, now it's time for a Sunday afternoon walk without winter jackets any more... ;-))

  9. Love the bird feet in the snow! We're suppose to be in the 50's this week and might even hit 60 by Thursday. I'm sure the daffodils will sprout! I'm also sure we'll have more snow before it's all over. ha.

  14. Oh, I'm ready for spring, too!! Been outside this morning plotting and planning, as this will be our first spring/summer in this house. Now to find the muscles to do some of the strenuous work involved. Had lunch sitting on the porch in the sun.

  23. Nothing makes the soul ache for spring as much as a late winter snow. Hope that warm weather materializes this week.

    [ps - I like the fancy lock ;<) ]

  25. I wore flip flops today. Starting maybe in another month, I'll be living in them. I love your door in the first photo. My husband has one almost just like it that his grandfather made many, many years ago. I wish I could come up with a way to use it. I have thought of making a coffee table out of it, but I can bring myself to cut it down to size. Hope your spring comes soon!

  26. That isn't much snow. The kids should be able to be outside, and so should you. But leave those sandals home for another month.

  27. We had 50 degree weather today....I am excited about spring, too...but was last year, also. I did not think winter was ever going to end last year.

  28. I think tat almost the entire country can't wait for spring! It has been a rough winter in so many places My brother in Massachusetts does not know where to put the snow if it snows again--he has 10 foot high piles all over his property. Spring never fully arrives till mid May or even later here--we sort of go right into summer!

  32. Wow, I love that naked tree! What a neat shot.

  33. The fountain/garden project sounds exciting!!! If it's too cold, just wear socks with your sandals. :)

  34. Great shots. I am so happy for some sunshine!

  35. Would you please give an update on the solar panels your husband installed in the garage. Do they work? Would you recommend using them?

  36. We're amidst a major meltdown and loving it! Snow sliding down roofs and landing in giant thuds.. sun, even some birds chirping!
I was thinking after a comment on some photos of our kids playing outdoors, about them being bundled for the weather, that probably a lot of places that received snow this past month don't necessarily have snow pants and the masses and masses of winter gear like we do.
Your mention of students going outdoors made me think of it too. Ours only stay in when it's below zero at recess time. :)
Lovely shots, I'm a sucker for saw marks in wood.

  37. We have a bit of a melt starting here too! The school kids play outside at recess all winter here - I guess they have warmer clothes here.

  38. I wish I had a chicken coop. Or a husband that liked the idea of more animals. In the spring, though. Not the winter!

  41. Seems you have spring projects at the ready. Yes, there is an air of change even here with a slight melt.

  42. I too have really never been so ready for spring...the warm up arrived today her and I keep checking the forecast to make sure it doesn't change...we have a wonderful week to look forward too. We have a very large koi pond, I'm always so happy to see the dancing light on our kitchen ceiling, a sure sign of melting pond water! Enjoy the warmth!
