Friday Randoms

More flowers for this random Friday.  Enjoying the volunteers that are popping up here and there.

The Kentucky Derby is almost upon us.  Ladies, do you have a hat at the ready?  If not, then I suggest you take a gander at these examples.

I am not much about taking a selfie, but these people are.

Is your state known for a specific movie?  You can double check that info right here.

I have been listening to Nickel Creek for a long time, but has it really been 25 years?  Since they recently did a reunion tour, I guess it has been that long.  You can give them a listen here.  Nothing like an NPR Tiny Desk concert for pure music.

Linking up with Tanya today.  Go forth and have a great weekend!

  2. I'm hoping for great weather this weekend because my granddaughter has her prom and nothing ruins a new do like a torrential downpour. I don't know about my state but I know this area is known for the Town that Dreaded Sundown... Have a super weekend!

  3. Ha! In the final scene of The Shawshank Redemption, my town is mentioned. That's about it. LOVE that movie.
btw on KD Day I wear the stupidest hat I can find ( or my bunny ears), drink a couple of mint julips and watch 20 horses go crazy. That's my afternoon.

  4. You know, there's a handful of those hats that I actually like, Now, some of them are just plain stupid. Hope you're enjoying spring.

  5. I don't take many selfies either. I'm too self-critical I think.

  6. i'll skip the hats and the mint juleps and just swig a shot of bourbon. ;)

  8. Beautiful little flower shot.
In the woods over by the creek here, we have some similar trying to come up but they are more of a purple.
Sometimes around here they have those Derby Hat Parties for those who don't go to it.

  9. Happy Friday, I love the pretty flowers.. I am not much of a hat person, sometimes a baseball cap..And I am not photogenic and prefer not to take photos of myself.. :) I am hoping for a warmer weekend, it is cold today..Have a happy day and weekend ahead!

  10. That array of hats reminds me of the Royal Wedding! (and not in a good way!) :-) But I like the flower-shaped ones....very springtime! It would be fun to wear a big hat just once in your life. And about that movie list. Nope, it fell far short regarding Virginia! Gone With the Wind ,ok, for the Richmond scenes, but what about Navy Seals, The New World and Gods & Generals (the War B the States one, not the Exodus one). Liked the Arizona list OK, especially the Roadrunner Cartoons. :-)

  18. Another excellent Friday Five! Of the 29 Selfies the one with Putin fascinated me the most. Hats and the Derby ... wow, some of those are amazing! And the Scenery Cheat Sheet ... right on for my part of the world. Nice work Michelle!

  21. I hate the term selfie, but you just made me laugh loud about it!

  22. Very pretty flower photo.
Those hats were something else. I wonder if you can actually watch the race with those huge hats in front of you. Lots of feathers for sure.
Selfies are something I don't do. I hate taking pictures of myself. I did like the sandsculpture of the Gorilla taking a selfie.
Our state should have had Sleepless in Seattle instead of what they listed.

  27. Love the blossoms. They just look 'happy'. And I especially loved the derby hats. I remember when all the women and girls wore bonnets to church on Easter Sunday. Then about 15 years ago, only a few little girls wore bonnets to church, and now, for the past few years, there have been no beautiful spring bonnets at my church. Sigh! Another sign that elegance and tradition are slipping away.
