Apple Blossoms

After I posted a picture for Random Five Friday, a few people inquired about our red apple blossoms here at the farmette.

As you can see they turn from red, to pink, to a white bloom.

We have lived here for the past fourteen years and this tree has bloomed each year, without fail.

It produces some small, tart apples and provides us with much beauty.

"Even if I knew tomorrow the world would go to pieces, I would still plant my apple tree."

  2. Gorgeous! I love apple blossoms. Sadly our apple tree has recently died, although we never had edible fruit off it anyway - not the right climate here - but I always enjoyed the blossoms.

  11. We have a big old apple tree too.. love the blooms. We don't spray, so our apples are always spotted and imperfect and we don't really get to eat many of them. But I still love it. It's the only tree the kids can climb. ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

  22. Michelle -- lovely photos of your apple tree. My new home has an apple tree in the back -- can't wait to see what it will produce. I bet your apples make some great applesauce! -- barbara

  23. The blossoms are lovely. It seems apples for us go on a good year/bad year/good year cycle, but amazingly the trees at the orchard we work at were *loaded* both last year and the year before! It's odd (but wonderful) to get two completely awesome harvests in a row! We had a bit of a late frost this year, but we are hoping the apples turn out ok anyway.
