I am a Taphophile.
What is that you ask? Why, it is a person who loves cemeteries and tombstones. Some definitions include an interest in funerals, but that doesn't apply to me.
I prefer a good cemetery, preferably Southern Gothic in nature.
Those cemeteries with meaningful statuary, Spanish moss, and unpaved roadways.
A quiet air and some 90 degree heat add to the ambiance.
A ghost story only adds to the mystique.
These photos come from the classic Bonaventure Cemetery in Savannah, Georgia.
I would like to tell you that at least one of my teenage children shares this interest with me, but sadly that is a no.
Whenever we travel, at least one cemetery is on the itinerary. When we were in Savannah, two cemeteries were on the schedule....more on #2 later.
