Thankful Thursday

Thankful this Thursday for unexpected surprises.

This grand home sits right next to a very old general store.  Yes, in case you were wondering, out in the middle of the countryside.  The only thing to be heard from the house is total silence.  In its day, I am sure it was a bustling place.  This fine, old, cast iron fence is original to the home.

Fine, indeed.

Linking up today with Teresa.....

  8. Looks like someone is keeping it up. Those iron fences are the worst to paint. With all the old pitted iron, it takes forever. I need to paint mine again. We were lucky to find it. It had been around an old family cemetery plot and the family was tired of weed eating around it. They had removed it and thrown it on the ground behind a barn. It is so heavy - they don't make em like they used to.

  24. I think the homes during that time were more majestic looking. Shame it is not being used. Houses should never sit empty.
