Thankful Thursday

As my summer starts to come to a close, (seriously), I am thankful for this time off from work.  Time for lazy mornings, late nights, and moments with my family.  Next week I hit the ground running getting my classroom ready for the upcoming school year.

Linking up this fence shot with Teresa.  This ancient, country post office served many people in its prime.  My own community post office is not even this large.  Currently open three hours per day and we are hopeful that continues.

  1. Pretty rural scene and fence. Preparing for school so soon, your school must open earlier. Have a happy day!

  4. This is a beautiful scene...I am so thankful that you and at least some of the fellow blogger give us pictures that expand enough to get a good look at the subject.

Lorelei starts to school July 29th! And that is when she started last year!

  5. Beautiful old post office. I know what you mean, and we have had papers from the city about how ours may close too or integrate with an existing business in town. Would be sad if it happens.

    1. I know what you mean. I don't know how long our small post office can hang on. Our little part of the county might dry up if they close it down.

  6. Summer already coming to an end? Fortunately we still have five weeks until school starts again. I love this time off even though I still have to work, but it feels completely different. Your photo is so pretty!

  7. The federal offices are in trouble, but hope they do not stop your mail. They are trying to cut back everywhere. Glad to see you so enthused about teaching. We end more like you.

  9. It seems summer just started, I blinked, and now it is school time around the corner. What do you teach? Your students are fortunate to have you.

  12. Lovely old building. Such a shame it has been allowed to deteriorate.

Gosh Michelle, you are getting ready for the new term and the school children here are just about to break up for their summer holidays. Enjoy your free time while you can.

  13. Once again, I second VP. Temps in the low 100s again today... This is a lovely, if a bit sad shot.
The problem with post offices is that we don't write enough anymore...

  16. We have something in common - about being a transplant from the city - two different cultures, isn't it? Sorry your summer is so short! But then you might be bored, if it would be longer:) Love the little barn with fence!

  17. Wonderful photo with so much history. Summer always passes too quickly, but I wish it would start raining again. Never thought I would ever say that :)

  26. Our post office also has limited hours. I love the people who work there. I hope it never closes.

How did summer go so fast anyhow? We only have 3 weeks left. The horrors!

  32. What a great country scene. That old post office is super cool looking. - You must live in a very small community though if your PO is only open 3 days a week. - Also school must start really early there. Coleen starts back August 26th (which is a week earlier than she did last year) as they changed the dates yet again. - Enjoy the remainder of your summer.
