Thankful Thursday

The last of the summer Honeysuckle clinging to a wire fence.

Thankful this Thursday for a festival weekend.  Here in Smalltownland, we celebrate everything cow in the next couple of days.  Started in the depression era, our festival was famous for raffling off a cow.  A big deal during those lean times.  My Mom and Dad will be here for my Dad's 50th high school reunion and the man-child of the house will be selling his knives at the festival.

 Busy times!

  8. One thing I miss living here in this apartment is the ability to wander down our farm path back in Alabama, smelling the honeysuckle in the late afternoon, just as the sun is setting. Oh, geez, now I am all sad. But.... memories are a wonderful thing and we can smell that honeysuckle anytime we want to... in my mind.

  15. Just one of the great things about living in a small town... The festivals, the reunions, and getting to see old friends....what a wonderful Blessing. Hope your son does great with his knifes...this is a good trade and I'm happy to see young people who continue the trades of the land...
