A Comely Trio

This morning I went directly to the archives.

Searching for a few barns to share with Tom.

Nothing says, "America", quite like a barn.

“Inside a barn is a whole universe, with its own time zone and climate and ecosystem, a shadowy world of swirling dust illuminated in tiger stripes by light shining through the cracks between the boards. Old leather tack, lengths of chain, rope, and baling twine dangled from nails and rafters and draped over stall railings. Generations of pocketknives lay lost in the layers of detritus on the floor.”

Linking up with Tom today.....

  4. Yes, beautiful, but they seem to collect everything. I shudder to think of moving and having to clean out our barn. It certainly isn't as pretty as the old ones though.

  8. Why is it that simple scenes of things like barns, cemeteries and fences have such a peaceful and calming effect? Maybe it appeals to the simplicity in life that many of us long for. Lovely photos!

  15. Lovely photos of the barns, and I enjoyed the quote. Love my grandpa's barn! It was always a special occasion to be able to go up into the loft as a child. He recently re-sided and roofed it, so it's in beautiful condition.
