Thankful Thursday
Thankful today for imperfection. This fence, "lock", is a prime example. While it may look slapdash.....it really works quite well. Perfection is highly overrated ,essentially unattainable and totally boring. It is the simple things that propel us through life and give us the most satisfaction.
"The fact of storytelling hints at a fundamental human unease, hints at human imperfection. Where there is perfection there is no story to tell."

love this. and your attitude! :)
ReplyDeleteGood morning! If it works well, it does not have to be perfect. Great quote and photo. Happy Thursday, enjoy your day!
ReplyDeleteThe simplicity of your photo is calming. And finally, a reason to give up perfectionism. I'm over-rated and boring--hahaha.
ReplyDeleteSo very true! Nice post, Michelle.
ReplyDeleteLovely red gate and I've been thankful for similar gate ties myself!
ReplyDeleteWhatever works is a good thing. Great image!
ReplyDeleteSo True Michelle...... Thanks for reminding us how great the simplicity of the world really is... Have a great day!
ReplyDeleteLooks are not everything!
ReplyDeleteso true!
ReplyDeleteMy life is full of functional imperfections.
ReplyDeleteI've grown to love what works . . . great post, Michelle.
We are good!
That picture made me smile Michelle. Our horses got out last week (through a locked and chained gate) and had a great time all night carousing around the place. I'm just glad they did it for once while my husband was home alone and not me, as is always the case.
ReplyDeleteLove it
ReplyDeleteWONDERFUL and TRUE!
ReplyDeleteWe are all pretty much imperfect, so it's good that it is so wonderful. Love that gate. xo Laura
ReplyDeleteagreed!
ReplyDeleteGood ol' bailing wire twist tie gate closer! Yep.. used a few of those over the years. ((hugs)), Teresa :-)
ReplyDeleteYep. We live on a small rural farm and the best solutions are the simple ones. Great post and totally agree that perfection is totally overrated.
ReplyDeleteGreat photo of the wire gate closure. I like that you don't have to have something "fancy and new" to be happy.
ReplyDeleteThat is so very cool! Nice one.
ReplyDeleteTis a gift to be simple I think. blessings Francine.
ReplyDeleteSometimes simple is the way to go.
ReplyDeleteMerle..............
Nice eye on this one!
ReplyDeleteWe have a very similar lock on our bird cage to keep the cats out!
ReplyDeleteIt's nit elegant, it's not high tech, but it IS perfect! I love this post.
ReplyDeleteEffective > stylish
ReplyDelete~
Whatever works...use it. This works quite well and your shot is really nice. Great color and detail.
ReplyDeleteFunctional and I love the bit of color.
ReplyDeleteOh yes! I so completely agree! and have you ever noticed that perfection is almost never as charming?
ReplyDeleteImperfect things work so well quite often...
ReplyDeleteBut I would hate to be the one that had to open that gate on a cold day with fat gloves. On horseback.
