The Quest of Spring

We are enjoying some glorious weather.  The kind that makes you forget it could turn around and snow next week.  That's how the weather rolls here in Kentucky.

I gathered my friends to search for a special sign of spring.  A sign I have heard others say they have spotted, but not me.  It was hard to keep everyone focused on the task at hand.  So much to see....and smell.

My progress was halted when I spotted a few buds, here and there.

My other friend got off course when he spotted a body of water.  He always takes a dip, no matter the temperature or time of year.

Finally I spied some March Lilies.  Perhaps you call them Daffodils, but around these parts they go by their colloquial moniker.

Much to my chagrin, they haven't bloomed just yet.  Looks like another farm walk is in my future.

"I recall looking out the window at the Redbuds, Dogwoods, Daffodils, Irises, and Pom-Pom bushes, knowing exactly what heaven must look like:  a spring day in Kentucky."

Loved seeing some water instead of ice . . .
We were "dumped a bunch" of snow again last night . . .
I think April will bring us some springtime color pops . . .
    Hopefully!

  2. We will have longer to wait for daffodils, but at least the snow cover is thinning and there are patches of dead grass! Enjoy your spring!

  7. First thing I noticed was the new header and the dog in the water. My first thought was I bet he is fun to bathe afterward! Lovely shots. And I love the March Lilly's. BTW my Hometown Tour started today.
Come over and share some posts about where you live. Enjoy the sunshine.

  10. You choose your friends wisely. :-) They're so cute! That reminds me that one of our dogs would always walk around a puddle, but the other one would always splash through it. Different breeds. So fun!! You have wild daffodils there?? We won't be seeing daffodils until May, but they're my favorite because they're the first in our garden. Lovely photos. Happy dogs!

    1. We do have wild Daffodils here. They are all scattered through the woods, so you really have to look for them.

  13. I am experiencing the "same exact thing" here.
Your post puts an Exclamation Point on it all.
(I love how you think, how you say, how you see.)
    I am smiling.

  14. Our March Lilies are in full bloom! Problem is the rain knocked them over.. but we've had a big bouquet of them on the dining room table for a week now and I'm loving every time I see them. I cut a bouquet of Daphne Odora today and they joined the wild violets in little vases on the table. Can't wait for the Lilacs!! ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

  25. What a delight! It snowed here for a bit today and was sooooo stormy in between longer periods of blue sky. Weird. And the daffs have been blooming for two weeks at least... Lovely post Michelle!

  26. The snow is nearly all gone in this part of NH, except for some piles in parking lots. I haven't noticed any trees budding, but when we go on a trail walk this weekend, I'm sure there will be a few...welcome, Spring!

  29. That's the first I've heard them referred to as March Lilies but I like the name. Mine actualy started blooming here the last week in Feb. We've had some warmer days in the upper 50's and low 60's which have been perfect for buds to start blooming. Loved your dogs enjoying themselves.
