Thankful Thursday

Thankful today for some sweet smells while I am out walking.  This Honeysuckle vine is covering our neighbor's fence and I like it, as do the bees.

"And honeysuckle love to crawl up the low crag and ruin'd wall."

Sir Walter Scott

  5. One of my first memories is my sister and I picking stems from the flowers of a honeysuckle bush to lick the nectar at our old house back in the late 60's.And what a sweet memory it was!

  8. I have honeysuckle planted on my front gate trellis, it is beautiful, but doesn't have that wonderful smell that I remember. I suppose it has to do with the new hybrid vs. the old fashioned heirloom plants. I know that hybrid roses do not have the scent that the old fashioned ones do. Your photo is lovely :) Have a sweet weekend.

  9. Love your photo of honeysuckle. It is one of my favorite flowers for its fragrance. Ours is not yet in bloom but I'm looking forward to it in the next few weeks when I hope it's warm enough to keep the windows open so the sweetness can waft into our house.
