Sweet Sunflowers

Several flowers are blooming around the farmette, but nothing is quite as lovely as the sunflower.

All the varieties have blossomed and the bees love them.

As do many other insects.  The sweat bees were out in force while I was trying to take a few photographs.

Thank goodness that they love the heatwave we are having.

Nothing deters their beauty.

"Keep your face to the sunshine and you cannot see the shadows.  It's what the sunflowers do."

  1. Your farm must be gorgeous with all those pretty smiling faces of sunflowers all around you! Love that quote! ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

  2. Beautiful! I planted a bunch of different varieties. But, very few came up and the only ones that seem to have survived are the big ones. In fact, I have one that is about nine feet tall! Some kind of bug has been munching their leaves like crazy though. The leaves have lots of holes in them. Enjoy your beautiful flowers! :-)

  3. Oh how I love sunflowers. Would love to see fields of them. Sweat bees are so mean, fast and their bite just keeps on stinging for so long. They live underground and this is the time of year they seem to be most aggressive.

  19. My sunflower was weird this year - it grew really tall like always but never flowered before dying. Not sure what happened. Yours is so beautiful.

Not sure about freezing turnips - I've never tried it! Usually I roast them.
