Competition

The one on the left is coming in for a landing and has a bit of competition from the pesky guy on the right.

I have a spot, outside my kitchen window, that is shaded by an upper story deck.  Feeders and flowers flourish here, as do the hummingbirds.  Not only do they stop by for a snack, they land and relax all through the day.

  1. i love hummingbirds, such gorgeous creatures. what a fun capture. my mom has a busy feeder too. i was googling the plant i have that they really love, but i can't find at the moment. i only have 4 plants in my deck planters but they have not done well this year with all the humidity ... but thankfully what i do have the hummingbirds are enjoying it is so so precious! 4. Ohhhhhhhhhhh, GREAT image!!! Hummers are so fun to watch [I too have a feeder that is just outside my window.] But that pesky bee! Here, it's ants that just 'torture' me 'cause I have to clean the feeder so many times with sugar water in it still. Bummer.

    1. Ants get in one of my feeders, but not this one that is so close to the window.

  5. Isn't it fun to capture a hummer in flight? We have a feeder right out our kitchen window which I can also see from my easy chair so I can see them all the time. We even have some that stay here all year. Love the saying.. how true. ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

Great shot Michelle. How lucky you are to have such fun birds nearby.
I think they are wonderful creatures . . . beating their wings 80 times a second and what about their heartbeat?

  12. Lots of action at my feeders, but the bees are moving in.

  13. The hummers are one of our daily pleasures. Our honeybees have found the feeders at last--fast food drive-through! So we move them around the yard to keep the bees confused. The hummers watch us move them so they know where the store is :)
