The Holdout

Many things on the farmette are moving past their prime.  If it isn't the impending change of season, then it's the relentless heat that is wearing them down.  This tiny sunflower blossom is brilliant among the tired stalks.

Beauty survives, even among the desolate.

  3. That is the tiniest sunflower I've ever seen! Maybe that's all that could be mustered in the dry end of summer.

  5. Growing up, I worked on farms in Minnesota and some good family friends were farmers and I learned early on how farmers are so beholden to the weather. Heck the relentless heat here is wearing me down! :)
