Game On

Have you ever watched first Harry Potter movie?  Well, if you have you know that Harry lives in a closet underneath the staircase.

One of those closets underneath the staircase exists in this old farmhouse.  It is where I store all of the Christmas decor.  I can tell you, in complete honesty, that it pains me each year to delve into the cave underneath the stairs.

But hey.....someone has to do it and it is now complete.  All trees are up and the lights are hung with care, but not by the chimney.

  1. Same thing happened here. Every box had to come out of the closet. Next year I'll pack more carefully and hopefully, in clear boxes.

    1. Donna, each year I tell myself that I will pack everything up in a better way. However, when the season is over I tend to shove it all back underneath the stairs.

  5. I LOVED the harry potter movies and books, lol. I love decorating. It's the UN-decorating that's a pain in the aXX. Because I'm a farm house lover, would love to see some of your farmhouse!

    1. I actually didn't take everything out of the closet! We have a lot of family items that have been given to us over the years.

  10. I love under the staircase closets . . .
    and have lived with a few . . .
The daunting task of unpacking the Christmas collections exists here too.
Once I begin it is difficult to stop until everything finds their place . . .
And then the "best times" begin . . .
    Happy days Michele . . .

  14. Our stairs have no magical space.....maybe they would be hard to climb under? We kept it simple this year, but it looks pretty. I had to smile at the nutcrackers.....I had to give mine away....can you believe our dog was afraid of them. Good grief!

    1. Anita, as the owner of four nutty dogs, I can totally believe that you had one scared of nutcrackers! lol

  15. That is such a fun place to store those! I can imagine a visiting child sneaking a peak of what is behind that door and seeing all those colorful nutcrackers! ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

  16. Love the photo. Yes, getting the Christmas decs out is a real pain - it's a chore earmarked for next week or the one after in our little hovel - it's magical when they're up though.

  18. I love your collection- and oh yes I do love the sparkling lights...I think that is my favorite thing about decorating is getting to sit in the dark in the early morning and watch the lights blink. Takes me back to my childhood every time.
