Cows, Manure, and Life

Being away all weekend left me with farm chores yesterday.  Filling stock tanks left me realizing, "someone", had thought to use a couple of them as their personal.....restroom.

Good times, I tell ya....

That unpleasant chore, along with the unpacking that came with a late Sunday night arrival, has left me tired, crazy, and behind in all things home/farm related.

In other hot news, at least I am caught up and pressing on at work.

Yes!

I am linking up this photo with The Barn Collective.

This handsome bovine belongs to my neighbor.

  2. That is the good thing about a horse, they are very particular about where they poop.

  3. You can tell that livestock over and over, but they don't always listen. My daughter hd a few ducks and everytime she set a water bucket down they graced it. She said they tasted good after tiring from their antics

  4. Hello, love the cow and barn scene. Very pretty photo. I would not be cut out for farm work but city living is not for me either, lol. Happy Tuesday, enjoy your day!

  5. That is horrible. I never had that happen. Horse manure is my favorite for the garden if one can say that.

  6. Cows have been known to do some pretty crappy things on occasion. I've had them kick me when milking them. I think they think I don't know what I'm doing. Which is possible! :)

  7. Gorgeous rural scene with barn! Great post. Having farm animals is such a full-time job and some of it kind've "crappy" :-) I waffle thinking of getting the chickens I want. We don't even have a pet right now, and the freedom is rather exhilarating. And yet....

  10. Now why would “they” use the stock tanks for their restroom.
They must know better than that!
Manure Chores must be the worst!
    Rest up girl . . .

  11. I don't have anything to add about the farm work, Michelle, because it can b very hard and tiring most times, but then so rewarding at others. Any time you return from time away there's a lot of catching-up to be done.

  12. I love cow shots.
And they're always looking right at you.

On with the week now . . .

  14. The cow's wondering if you're really done with the chores. There are always messes to clean up, sometimes more than we want. The cow reminds me of an old postcard.
    Have a great day Michelle.

  17. Well, you know what they say. Sh** happens. :) And then somebody has to clean it up, no matter what kind it is.

  20. Real nice picture of your neighbours cow!

Seems to me you need a guard rail around the outside edge of your stock tanks so none of the users can back right up close to them... This way any accidents would drop harmlessly between the guard rail and the stock tank rather than in the tank.

    1. Paul, we often move these tanks around our various pastures. I have to say this is the first time it has happened all through the years of having cows. I hope it doesn't happen again!!
