Out of the archives today is a shot of an old schoolhouse, in Tennessee.

Many thanks to Sara for this link.  This is my kind of cat.

While I have been to Estes Park, Colorado, I didn't stop at the Stanley Hotel. I should have stopped at the hotel!

I often feel this same expression on my face when trying to interpret high fashion.

Sending you off into the weekend with some Tom Petty.  He will be missed.

Linking up with Tanya today.

  3. Love to see the old desks. You still see them once in awhile in antique stores.

  4. That may be an old school house ... but I remember ink wells! And those student desks. It was the dinosaur age! :)

  5. Hmm.. I do think the photo is faked.. I could easily recreate it in picmonkey. BUT.. that hotel is fascinating and that movie scared me silly -

My favorite fashion- jeans and a tee shirt. Does anyone really buy those high fashion weird pieces of... ?clothing?

  8. I do believe some years ago we were on the way home from Jeffersons home and went through the Cumberland Gap on the trail of Danielle Boone. Beautiful country...:)

Would love a visit to the scary hotel . . . not sleeping there though!
School room picture . . . my era . . . I remember many words carved in the wood!
Quite the fashion statement . . . Like Why!

  10. Love that old schoolhouse shot. And yes, I would absolutely want to visit the Stanley Hotel. One of the best made horror movies ever, and a lot had to do with the creepy hotel setting. Thanks for the TP link. I'm a huge fan, and still grieving.

    Funny cat story!

  12. It's amazing how times have changed when it comes to schools. Some cats are so social and then there's the scaredy cats.....I would never be able to sleep in that hotel and that movie was really scary. The television version was scarier than the movie, I think. Fashion has always confused me, too. Just when I think I have found a good 'look', it all goes out of style! So sad about Tom Petty. He left us with some wonderful music. x K

  17. I remember having a desk in my early school years that looked pretty much like those, with a place for the inwell and room for books and pencils under the desk top that functioned like a lid. The photos from the hotel are remarkable. And, yes, Tom Petty will be missed.

  18. Those desks were rather like the ones I sat on ar school as a boy . . . brings back memories . . :)

  19. The desks in my elementary school were very much like these, though the school was very modern (built in 1870!) and had painted walls and ceiling.

  20. Could have been a picture of my school for 1st and 2nd grade. Grades 1-6; one teacher. Straight ahead would have been the upright piano behind which you were sent to stand in the corner if you misbehaved. Thanks for the memory.
